i have pretty much decided to import for my next car and have brought it down to the mitsu GTO and the nissan skyline GTR
i would be looking at something that isn't legal yet (gto bit new gtr) to keep prices down b4 inflation hits them.
i love the gto and even better very few ppl would be getting them compared to the gtr simply becuase of reputation and availability.
EDIT: If you going to choose other post them looking for around at the most 15k but cheaper would be nice then i can put a bit of money into it

To me, a GTO looks a lot better.
As well, is there a USDM car that carries the same engine as the Skyline? If not, that means parts need to be ordered from Japan (Possibly), whereas a GTO should be able to have most parts ordered here. |

These are both my thoughts on it i love the looks of the gto more than the skyline. It seem that most ppl that i have talked to si far seem to like the looks of the skyline more. I don't know in some ways i think it looks kind of plain and kind of boring and i am not really a fan of the rear end. (let the flaming begin) |

I'm not a fan of the skyline either in terms of looks. Platform/drivetrain, yeah. Just not looks...
Easiest way to poll people on looks isn't car enthuisiasts, ask the average person. Show your gf, her friends, buddies, etc, etc...
Car enthusiasts are sometimes to blinded by other parts of the car, besides appearance, to tell you if it looks good or not.
As well, I think the GTO would be fairly cheaper than a GTR wouldn't it? I thought GTRs went for 15K.... |

I am a skyline lover but the GTO ( correct me if i am wrong would be easier to fix and maintain? ) so if this will be drivin a fair amount i would go with the GTO.
I suggest what you like and or prefer and what is the best for the price. Ima vote skyline but i am biased but i told you so -1 from the votin if u wish ;) |

as far as i have seen so far the gto and gtr are about the same price if you look at a gtr that isn't legal yet maybe a bit more but ya the legal one are around 15k i maybe wrong that is just based on a quick look.
one other thing looking at the numbers on both cars
Skyline
GTO
Should they not be approx. the same for performance i know that the biggest thing that the gto has against it is its weight, but at the same time the gto has more torque and in a lower rpm range which i guess could be both good and bad. So my question is what would be so much better about the skyline lookin numbers to numbers they seem fairly close unless the numbers are wrong or i am stupid and am missing something that makes a big diff which i wouldn't be supprized.
EDIT: i forgot to ask. in some ways it is a personal prefrence thing but ask which one would be better for handling.
another skyline spec sheet becuase the other site doesn't seem to be working (a little less info tho) |

pardon my ignorance but doesn't a Mitsubishi GTO = 3000GT = Dodge Stealth???
if that is true...I'd get a GT-R over a Stealth |

Yes that is true they are the same other than the looks which are much better and i am not sure but the ecu is probably a bit different and possibly a few other parts. |

GTR.....
More of what you want.... exclusivity!
How many people have a GT-R, in Canada?
It only looks and IS a skyline, not a 3000GT or Stealth, no confusion.
