I have to sell either my Corolla or my MR2. I think I'm going to play with the MR2 a little longer, so my 'roku is leaving me. $2700.00, new fuel pump, stereo, brakes, tires, etc. Not set up for drifting yet. Fun car.
My e-mail is rmcbeath@ironbrew.ca.

MR2 is also 85. I'll clean the car off and get pics of the 'roku ASAP. Any items in particular you want the pic's of? Seats? Tires? Stereo? (obviously outside as well... that's a given).
Forgot to mention - has some sort of aftermarket computer in it (not the engine management computer). I've never tried to get it to run, and haven't removed it. Probably late 80's vintage, so trashable, I'm guessing, but if you are a gadget freak... |

| How much with out stereo? |

| Stereo wouldn't make much of a difference. Probably 200 bucks. I just wanted something I could hear over the road noise. Not a great big stereo (JVC), but not a $50 CTC special either. |

any rust on either of ur babies?
wat colors of both? |

Rust? In Canada? Ummm.... :)
More seriously, the MR2 has a redone body, but needs an interior renovation. It is metallic wine or something like that (I"m not great with naming colours... but you get the idea of the colour). The 'roku is faded red, with the usual rust spots on the corners (ie - some new wheel arches would look nice). None of them are serious, however. The floorboards are good, doors are good, etc.
Also, as is typical with a car of that era, there is some rust starting to show on the rockers.
But hey... for $2700, you aren't getting a completed competition car, but a good base for a drifting project. I had thoughts of that, but a trade for an old tractor yielded a MR2, and I have always wanted one... And I can only pay insurance on one vehicle...
I got the software for the pictures today, so I'm going to size them tomorrow, and post them. |

Basically boiled down....
Plain Corolla would be front wheel drive.
SR5 would be rear wheel drive, drum brakes etc.
GTS ('roku) is rear wheel drive, disks all round, etc.
Newer GTS are front wheel drive.
Engine is a 4age, same engine used in the Toyota Atlantic race cars. Over 220HP in race tune. Not roadable. Same engine as the first MR2's, and the supercharged MR2's. Chassis in Japanese competition trim is run at about 180 HP and still doing well/winning. I believe the later model 4age's are up to about 170HP without any real tuning. Meaning with a mild tune, you are at Japanese winning competition power. Be aware that with the later model engines require some mild mods to either the firewall or the engine to fit them in the car.
Information on this engine can be found on (I think... been a while since I looked) club4age.com.
Yes, the rust is through AT THE ARCHES. The floor etc. are solid. As somebody mentioned, they have looked at the car and it is a solid project car. I'm not trying to sell it as race ready, or as a brand new car, but I refuse to give it away either. It is a good daily driver with new components. I don't have the time to build it, and the MR2 came along anyway.
For anybody interested a little more in the meaning of Hachi Roku, I believe (as in I am not going to gaurentee 100%) it translates literally as "86", short for the chasis style number, AE86. |

Pictures are ready to go, but I'm unable to post them for some reason. I've sent a note to the site management to ask them what I'm doing wrong.
I haven't forgotten I promised them for today. |

| does the rolla have open diff or LSD |
|

Open differential. Almost no locked diffs sold in Canada at that time due to the "issues" of snow.
Still trying to get the pics uploaded. I can e-mail them directly if anybody wants. I was sent a link with instructions, but crucial parts were missing (dead link). |
