I dunno bout the srt8 but the 300c with a regular hemi has cylinder deactivation so under normal driving your actually running of 4 or 6 cylinders.. can't remember which, i think 4, then when ya nut it or need the power all 8 cylinders kickin. |

All I see in that car is...DAMN that things ugly! There's a few 300's up here and those things look a couple of shavings away from being back at the square brick of clay the designers started with. The previous gen is much nicer.
And then ther's the fact that it's american. Ya, I know MB owns Chrysler and alot of the guts will be from them, but who in Granny's garden needs a gas guzzlin' V8 to haul kids to school and yer ass to and from the 9-5 grind?? That is unless you actually like to spend your first hour there paying for the days fuel for the pig. |

Come again? Are you forgetting about the likes of the E55 AMG? 469hp and 516ft/lb in a 4000lb family sedan.
I like the idea of it, but not the looks of it. I do like that they used retro cues without making a retro design, though. It shows promise. But yeah, I'd rather the CTS-V, if it wasn't double the price. :p
*edit*
Never mind Z32NUT. I took Granny's Garden as Germany, for some reason. :p |

If I had 50 grand CDN to drop on a sedan right now I would definitely take a very close look at one. Granted there are a lot of other nices cars in that price range, but it would be hard to wipe the stupid grin off my face every day in that car. lol
And I have driven a few 300's and I'm really impressed with the feel of them. They can't quite compete with the quality interiors of a German car, but it is damn good and better than any other Chrysler product I have been in. And for such a big car, it actually handles and rides very good and it is even fairly quick with just the base engine.
 to Chrysler for building vehicles that most other manufactures would be to chicken shit to build. :D |

DC keeps on pumping them out SRT this SRT that, simply a supurb marketing strategy, at this rate the Ford and GM are watching how much of a dent DC will make. Particularily in the sport compact scene ie the SRT-4 its cousin the Lancer and Evo are threats to the sales of the Honda Ciivc, and not to mention the "soon to be"discontinued performance models from Toyota (Celica) and other import companies. Yes ther are other modelscoming out but not for a year or more.We can now see the S/C scene is left wide open to domestic brands to get a larger piece of the pie. Car manufactures are replacing models with more fuel efficient models as that seems where the automotive is heading. D/C has made hits with the new Ram, the long awaited SRT4 , especially the 300C Hemi, etc. It would be nice to see the trends continue since DC is finally turning profits. For those of you who are Neon or Dodge haters in general I would take a second look and see the difference in quality engineering and performance that Dodge is putting out. I only say this because I was a Neon hater/owner once as well. As I have mentioned in the past, I had 8 car enthusiasts drive my car and it put a big smile on there faces, a couple even went as far to say I should trade my car in for one of these. The DC brand deserves more respect than it traditionally gets. This is my opinion.

Thread revival!
I bought the Charger SRT8 a coupla months ago. I don't know of any other car in it's price range that I would rather have. To spend more money (twice as much) I could say only an M or say the 08 Viper, that's it.
Four door, 22MPG Testarossa and Countach eater. I'm pleased with it.
Biggest issue is, that it's 4300lbs and with that I find myself eating up the brakes and tires. It drives like a small car, much more power, and much better brakes, with stiff suspension makes this 2ton car feel like an rsx.
Best money spent thus far.
Displacement baby!

I test drove the charger SRT8, and i was dissapointed with the perfomance VS other cars in the price range(STI). Actually, it was bad enough for me to cancel my 2 month order for my SRT8 cherokee.
Testarosaa and countach eater? Possibly, however, they are 20+ year supercars, which will probably still eat your charger. |

a charger srt-8 will beat a sti, you know that right? It has more legs then the sti will ever have stock for stock. They routinely trap 108-112 in the 1/4, where the sti barely goes over 100. |

The NEW STi's are scary though.
I'm not trying to start any fights, but it makes me feel nice inside knowing that my 4300lb beast, can eat the Testarossa, and Countach, my two dream cars growing up ;) Even the Dream Viper of mine, 1995 RT/10 is slower.
Maybe it's like when people buy accord EXRs that can eat their baby civics? I dunno. haw haw
You're the first person I've heard say, "I test drove it, and it was slow." It's about time someone wasn't scared by one! :)
The Cherokees look mean, but are slower. Off the LINE almost untouchable, 4WD 425HP is bliss.

Dont most of those SRT8 Chargers and Magnum run in the mid 14's here?? Thats what i recall from the few i saw at Bud last year...... 112 MPH even with a shitty driver should get you 12.8-13.2 et....low 12's with traction... |

But in regards to the video.. it has 10" wide slicks.. if you look when they put it nose to nose to an old challenger... the old school has 15 or 20" wide slicks... |

Somehow, I don't think Testerossa, Countach and even Viper owners would care.
More to a car than the straight line.
Besides, you still pay over 80 grand for a nice Testarossa. Get back to me on the value of your Charger in 20 years.

My 3800lbs Chrysler leans pretty good, but handles better than expected :P (Not that I'm saying it handles good... just better than what you would expect) :p

I don't think a Ferrari owner would be too pleased either to be beaten by a four door Dodge.
What is it with people hating on everyone else on this board? Is the average age 17 or 18 here?
My point was, I bought the SRT8, and it's more than I could have ever done to my Venge. It already has 425HP, it already IS RWD, it already has 20s, it already has a brembo brake setup, it already had auto dampeners, it already has leather racing seats, it already has a moon roof, it already has a body kit, it already has dual exhaust, it already has steering wheel mounted controls, it already has a compass, it already has oil pressure, tire pressure, and all other read outs, it already has new paint, it already has performance to knock your socks off, it already has everything that I could have done to my other car, and it has been done very nicely.
Say what you like! I don't live civics. So? Doesn't mean I go on some forum saying shit about them, or their drivers.
For a 4300lb car, it handles very nicely. Sure it's not as sporty as the NSX or Porsche GT, but that's not why I bought it. That should clarify some things. Yes a Testarossa could whoop me in a circuit race, but that neither was my point.
The new Challenger is only speculated to be the 6.4, with 6spd, it's not a for sure. At first it may not be avail, but the SRT may make it the 6.4 or the 6.6 yummy!
I got this car cause I love the looks, the sound, the performance, and of coruse there's so much more that can be done, but hell if I got the 300ZX I wanted, or the RX7 I pretty much had, or even my buddies used NSX... I'd be just as happy.
I just can't believe peoples attitudes here, "Oh yah lets see this" or "oh ya??? Well my mom can beat up your mom." ... great
Am I the only one who sees this? Are the rest of you used to it, and dont' even bother anymore?

The SRT8 is a big powerful V8 performance engine, a Ferrari owner might not like it, but Ferraris are V8's too (for the most part)
When you buy a Ferrari, you are buying the name and the hand built car. There are lots of cars that can be faster than a Ferrari....damn, some guys even have 4 door Civics that could toast a Ferrari. But does that change anything? Not really. A ferrari owner might be surprised to see a Dodge or Honda beat him, but in the big picture he couldn't care less. In the end, he's the one with the Ferrari...not you.
I see you are fairly new to 780tuners, so I'll let you in on a little insight.
People on this site will argue about EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. It doesn't matter if you have a Lambo or a Ferrari, guys would complain, "yea its nice, but if I put that much money into my DSM, it would be faster!"
My suggestion would be to take everything with a gain on salt.
With that being said, nice car!

The SRT-8 Charger does look "Bad Ass" IMO, but I don't think I would buy one.
An SRT-8 300, or Cherokee though? I would love to have either.
I wasn't a fan of the 300 at all until my stepdad bought one in Whiterock, B.C. He bought the 300C and I was VERY impressed for how it handled for a big car. It does borrow many suspension components and a basic design from the Mercedes E-class, so it handles well for what it is. I think for what it is the 300C SRT-8 is very well priced for what you get.
The Cherokee SRT-8 is fuckin awesome! An SUV that'll pull low 13's in the 1/4 completely stock? I don't like the look of the regular Cherokee's but what DCX did with the SRT-8 version is Beauty.

Because people will buy it!

I'm more interested in the 6.6L crate
Why buy any car if you're worried about gas mileage? The gas mileage isn't even that bad in the 6.1
Sure the 5.7s have MDS and shut down to 4cylinder mode, but honestly, I've driven at 26MPG in my 6.1 around the city, and I've also driven at 6MPG.
It sure is nice to have a car that can do both.
THAT is why.
I love reading the SRT forums and seeing people post shit like, "I want the SRT but how bad is the gas mileage?"
If you're worried about it, don't get it. Maybe $5 more every time you fill up. OMG EVERY 10 FILLUPS IS $50 MORE, EVERY HUNDRED IS $500 MORE!!! .... ya and?

??? Hmm I don't have an SRT... just a 318LA... I can get 26-38mpg highway depending on the temp out side and I can get 4-12mpg city.... every 100 tanks $500 more... sheesh... my wife spends maybe $150 on fuel a month in her neon.. I spend minimum $300 on my 318, all the way up to $600/month...
it does add up alot faster than your think.... but yeah.. if your buying an srt, or any performance car... you should expect shitty mpg.... then if you do get decent or good mpg it's a bonus... |
