I've got one I need done too, its for my own car, and I'm beginning to suspect the lady who sold it to me might not have been completely honest about it's history. Carfax says that there are "7 records found in our database" and I want to know the car's history before I sell it to someone else claiming, as was told to me, that the car hasn't been in any accidents.

| Unless the car you are searching for is from the States carfax is USELESS. Go to the motor vehicle branch and get it done for 10 bux or whatever it costs. |

Carfax is American, the regulation of automobiles is way more strict in the States. In Canada most information is only recorded if the owner volunteers the information. They don't even record the mileage at the registry office when the ownership of the car changes hands.
Your best bet has always been and always will be a pre-purchase inspection by a certified mechanic that YOU trust. Talk is cheap. $40 (going rate for a PPI) might save you $4000 in money in a very short time. Even if the car is pristine, isn't a miniscule percentage of the asking price worth it for piece of mind? |

Get IBC to run the vin for you, I would think to find this to be way more accurate than carfax and it's free. Tell me if it works.

yah accidents dont tend to turn up unless they are huge accidents where 1/2 the cars been replaced. so carfax is actually kinda a joke. but i got an account if ne one needs some stuff carfaxed. |
