Your parents' insurance company will most likely give you the best deal in order to keep you loyal. Compare some prices with your current coverage and then take any lower prices to your company in order to allow them to beat them.

To get the best rate you will have to do some research. You should get quotes from as many insurance companies as possible. Then make your choice based on which price/coverage suits you best. As already stated, your insurance company will probably give you the best deal since they don't want to lose a customer and they have your driving record (small or not ;) )

If you can stay under your parents policy with their insurance, it may be cheaper there.

Nowadays, it's tough (Or so I'd think) to get deep discounts. I would imagine most of the discounts now are for loyalty, people who have multiple policies (Home/car/etc...) and corporate plans. And I don't think you'd qualify for any of those...

with quotes im getting it doesnt matter if you have it or not its the same for me, so i decided against it.

Stay with your parents.

I get Multivehicle discount.
Multipolicy discount (House insurance)
Glass Coverage

for being under my parents.

According to the government plan I think it counts for 2 or 3 years of driving experience - so technically, if you are paying the base price it will drop it.

If you are getting a discount below the government plan, then there may not be a discount.

well i was thinking of staying on my parents insurance and bringing another car on it...but you also have to remember...you crash. it hurts their insurance also.

im not sure about the rest of you but if my parents insurance went up because of me i'd have to pay the difference plus extra cash cause i made em look bad...or get booted off the insurance anyway, and still pay the difference.

search around theres lots of good insurance companies

im switching over to this girl shelley orvold (i think shes under state farm, not too sure) but yah i talked to her and shes really nice and helpful

edit: oh yah she also quoted me insurance for 1822.40 a year instead of 1870

Have you contacted State farm? They usually have lower rates than other companies for new drivers.

The best thing to do is shop around.

I had trouble getting insurance and rates were high. I talked to Trent at Zimmerman Insurance on the westend he got me an awesome price and coverage. I think it would be worth giving him a call.

Absolutly full coverage for $2700/yr for a 03 Eclipse.
I am 21, 1 ticket no accidents

I am with Statefarm... Ihave nothing but bad thigns to say about their level of service and ability to provide you with services you've paid for.... however, with that being said I do recommend them anyhow b/c even though things TAKE FOREVER to be accomplished by their reps for you they're the cheapest you can typically find.

I say this b/c my insurance is $60/month (i just don't do collision).

Remember sometimes you get what you pay for....
