So what does the No Parking Snow Route sign actually mean? - Click HERE for Original Thread

TrevorK
I've been trying to figure this out.

Near my house (And around every other residential bus route it seems) entire streets have signs that say "No Parking Snow Route" on them. These are roads that they typically plow the snow from (I assume because they're bus routes/main roads).

Anyways, I see cars after they plow that the plow has plowed around (So they are blocked in with snow). They don't tow them or anything - they just go around it.

So if the sign says "No Parking Snow Route" when does the No Parking part of it apply?

The city will declare a Snow Route Parking Ban when they go into effect. It's supposed to be after big storms but I don't know how big because I can't remember the last time they did this.

generally it's places the put snow banks.. sometimes they tow.. but the plows tend to just plow ppl in.

That's what I always assumed - I just always see cars blocked in (Which leads me to believe than none on at least that block are towed)...

Usually there will be signs out on the streets in residentials to let you know that they will be plowing the next day.

If your car get damaged by the plow or snow, the city will not cover it because it is posted.

My dad got his side mirror ripped off by a plow. They made a report but refused to cover any of the cost. :(

As mentioned....it designates a major route, where, when City council envokes a Snow Route Parking Ban (after a large snowfall or for major ploughing operations in spring), it's illegal to park. All other times, it's meaningless.

Last year in the neighbourhood I used to live in they were plowing and anyone who was left on the street was towed.... luckily just to around the corner :p It had ppl shitting in the morning until they ran around the corner.
