Mitsu's New Warranty! - Click HERE for Original Thread

TrevorK
Wow, just heard on the radio Mitsu is offering a 10 year 160K warranty.

Definetely a good move on their part - now Hyundai can't brag they have the longest anymore. Perhaps this will force more manufacturers to extend their current warranty offering.

No-Pistons
to bad the company will go belly up before that.

Trying to save the brand I guess. From C&D Magazine:

quote:
LOSER: Last April, DaimlerChrysler, which owns 37.3 percent of Mitsubishi, announced it would withhold further investment in the debt-riddled company. Through September, Mitsubishi's retail registrations had plunged 31.5 percent, with all models except the Montero Sport suffering double-digit declines.

During a meeting in Japan, according to Automotive News, a shareholder said of Mitsubishi: "It's all like the Titanic. The rats are leaving this sinking ship. Not only the rats but also the cats and the cockroaches." We think he may have meant Noah's Ark, although he never mentioned giraffes.

Since then, Mitsubishi has slashed its advertising, cut the salaries of employees, and hastened planned layoffs.

A company spokesman says Mitsubishi's only salvation here may be to mimic Isuzu of America's business plan, where dealers will shortly have only one model, a rebadged Chevrolet truck. Ha-ha. A little black humor, there.

Chrysler is letting Mitsu use the Dakota platform for their new truck - so there is obviously some faith they will stick around, and the new Eclipse for 2006 looks nice...

Maybe Mitsubishi Motors, but not Mitsubishi as a whole... you do know that Mitsubishi makes alot more than just cars right? :p

ya they offer the new warranty of course the year after I buy mine. Fuck. And more than likely I will need the warranty that long to. I won't buy another Mitsubishi. And I can't sell this one cause if I do then I won't even get enough to pay it off and being in school I need a car to get back and forth.

So your Eclipse has been giving you problems?

The 2006 just looks soooo nice, and if it remains in the price range the current Eclipse is in, it's definetely worth looking at.

2 blown struts, heating problem now, some lights stoped working. Was a bad ground. the car idles really rough. Don't know why. They can't figure it out, they say the 2.4 idles rough anyways. Some other little things.

Have you had all those sorts of problems?

TrevorK,

Just know 3gec personally. But no not really haven't had any problems with my car. I've had it for a year and a half aside from it being slow I'm very satisfied with it.

have any of you mitsabushi owners done like any racing with your cars? I am really curious there are rumours circulating thanks to car and driver and other shows that mitsa does not do anything under warrenty if it has been deemed you have raced your car.

someone with the lancer evo7 or wutevs blew a strut bar and it wrecked his turbo and it has like 5,000 kms on it and they wont cover it cause he took the car to the track before it happend.

just curious if there is something under the warrenty where it says void there? if they fixed that then mitsa owns with warrenties

Last I read, which was a couple of years ago Mitsubishi was one of the top 10 largest companies on the planet. They make everything from microwaves to forklifts.

Alot of people in the States have a had problems with Mitsubishi, and using your car for drag racing and Auto X. I read one thread where the dealership had someone take pictures at a drag strip, those people lost thier warranties. What is the point of buying an EVO if you can't use it for what it was made for.

SketchifisT
exactly k good i am not the only one thats heard of that, Yeah its just stupid they make these high powered proper handling vehicles and when someone uses it they get screw for it

Just a thought.... if Chrysler pulls out of Mitsubishi and they go belly up, maybe we might see Mitsu's AWD and tranny technology find its way into the infamus Dodge SRT-4. Granted the price would sky rocket but still I think it would cost less than an EVO or WRX (STI). But that's my dream and unfortunatly it won't happen cause the SRT-$ is done in a couple of years. What will be the replacement car for the SRT-4, and the EVO if Mitsubishi goes belly up?...................

haha. Ya I would still be complaining. Even though I am a small guy have you not looked in your back seat lately? I can't fit back there by myself let alone with a girl haha. BTW my car going to Mitsubishi dealer again tommorow cause the heat isn't working properly. I am getting damn cold . I guess it's a common problem to the 3g according to club3g.com

The manager at Westside Mitsubishi told me if I ever blow the engine or do something that causes a problem and I have to bring it in to be fixed he said they hook to the computer and he said it records the way the car has been driven. So he said something fucks up we look and it's at a high RPM or seems to be from racing then warranty is completly voided.
Just what I was told.

SketchifisT
i find that to be weird, u think if they make a fast street car that they would except the fact that people would race it like iwouldn't buy that car if it didn't carry a warrenty but thats just me.

I completly agree with you. But have you been in a 3rd gen Eclipse? If not just to let you know it's not a fast street car at all. It's actually really slow. But I have heard some really good results from guys who turbo them so maybe one day if I keep this car it might be fast. But on topic I agree with you. The only reason I bought a brand new car was for the warranty. it's less worry.
