97 Prelude questions - Click HERE for Original Thread

Loose
1. How much does it cost to have a shop replace a timing belt?

2. What are the differnces between a base and SH model.?

3. What is the street price of a base 97, 103k?

1_Bar
1. anywhere from $300-400

2. SH models have: ATTS, full leather, painted rocker moldings, spoiler, no 3rd brake light, different rims (5 point vs. bladed style)

3. no clue

BananaBoy
When replacing the timing belt, the belt tensioner may need to be replaced as well. This is a known/common flaw.

2ndgenlude
ya, so many people bend valves due to the auto tensioner failing. a manuel tensioner conversion from a h23 is recommended

I wouldn't pay more than $14k for a '97 Prelude with that high km's.

GQsmooth
^^^ 103km on a 97' is low tho.

buh_buh
yeah it may be low for a '97, hell my car is on pace to go over 100k way before the 8 year mark, but I just wouldn't buy a car thats over 100k if I had a choice.

i dont think the 5 star rims came out till later...?

and yea 14-16k for a 97 base sounds about right 16k being for absolute mint condition
