My dumb dad lives in wetaskiwin and drives a new ford truck registered under his own name. He was speeding 20 over on the yellow head and got a photo radar ticket. The plate was clear as a bell in the picture however I live in leduc and the ticket was sent to me. If I was on 2-3 months vacation can my dad get off the ticket by saying it was never sent to him?
This did happen and I want to know my dads legal rights wether he can reject the ticket or is he still at fault with extra penalties? If he is at fault still then I have a bone to pick with the senders of the ticket , thats personal private info getting sent to the wrong people. What happened here is I moved from the adress the cops sent it to and my dad had no clue he got it till a month after I got it." Also his ticket affected my insurance too." ((edit)) an assumption and I am sorry I assumed this. I guess I shoulda had a editor go over this thread before I posted it so you guys dont attack it lol. I wasnt aware that they cant put points on or contact the insurance agencies the plate is under and thanks for that info I learned something new.
Moderator would it be ok if this thread could be deleted it has no use anymore. |

Well, first off, photo radar tickets get sent to the address that the vehicle is registered under. Obviously your Dad is using your address....This isn't a breach of private information, so relax.
Secondly, I would be willing to bet almost anything that this photo radar ticket made your insurance go up about 0%.
My God man... |

I assume if he went to fight the ticket, he'd end up getting another for not having his information current... |

Its a $115 ticket for failing to have your license reissued within 14 days of an address or name change and there is also a $115 ticket for not notifying the registrar of change of name or address.
Pops is screwed no matter which way you slice it. |

| I call :bs: on this affecting your insurance. Photo radar doesn't affect your insurance. And for the ticket being sent to the wrong address isn't the police fault. It's because that address is the registered address for that plate. |

Now the only chance your dad has is if his license has the correct address on it and it, And they got confused for some silly reason because you two have the same names.
AS far as insurance goes.. no way can photo radar hurt your uinsurance.. redlight camera... maybe, but not photo radar I used to get photo radar almost weekly. |

| Photo enforcement (photo radar for speeding and red-light cameras for running of red lights) tickets cannot, do not, nor will not (under current legislation) alter in any way your insurance...unless you're dumb enough to actually phone your insurance company to say "Hey, just wanted to let you know I got a ticket". Smarten up. |

| :dunno: I havent had a ticket in a long time and my insurance went up alot so I just assumed it was cus of my dad sorry for assuming that. I was looking for considerate advice not a bashing , if I was ignorant and wasnt aware of certain things and you dont like it try and help me understand without telling me to smarten up , dont assume that I already knew or flat out insulting my question. I thought it was a Q/A not bash the Q. You have to remember that or else your input wont help just anybody. It would be apretiated more Im sure. Thanks |

This wasn't bashing by any means. It was just another repititious thread.
Although most people who have been driving for awhile (I assume by your age that you have been) know of photo radar, most of us could give you the benefit of the doubt, being the nice guys we are, and maybe say that you have never heard, or talked about it with anyone before.
But, seeing as how there are ~7300 posts in the 'Speak w/ Your Local Law Enforcement, this could have been avoided by using the Search button. |

Ill make sure If I have a question to look up old posts and see if folks have been lookin for the same info's. The other forums I was at the search engine wasnt that great , folks never used key words properly. Thanks. |
