I suggest after a tough winter like this one that we clean our under carriage's , this will help prevent any road salt and dirt from making cancer (rust) to dry it after go for a 5 minute rip on the highway.
If you have'nt already perhaps consider undercoating the undercarriage , this will protect the undercarriage for many many year's to come. Also note * Undercoating should not be applied unless the undercarriage is clean dry and should not be applied unless proper safety equiptment (safety goggles , respirator).
It does'nt hurt to put the car up in the air each spring to see if the undercoat is holding up. To test if it's holding take a broom stick and poke the undercoating , loose undercoating will simply peel or fall off when you poke it. If this happens try to peel it off untill it wont any more , make sure its clean in that area and reapply undercoat. Sanding with extreme gritts (40-80) helps as well to promote undercoat to stick better. Undercoating can be applied either by pressure spray or by hand and when I first started doing them I was on a sleeper with a paint brush talk about fun. Nonetheless what ever way you choose to apply it works great for extra protection from gravel and road debris and keeps it from rusting.
Another benifit is slight reduction in road noise and there are undercoat product's available that are designed for sound deadening. I will make a DEMO of how this sound deadening undercoat works for improving aquistics in sterio applications when I get a chance.
I hope this was informative enough however if you have more questions feel free to PM me I can usually come up with solutions for almost any type of budget. This is intended information for those of us who are into "Do it yourself" job's for money saving purposes. |
