Heres a problem alot of folks face when sending out there machines to be detailed. You may notice that the carpets are dry but the smell of mildew is evident. This "usually" means that the underlay of the carpet is soaked and rotting. Its a common problem associated with "quick IN and Out" detailing shops. They dry the carpet but dont check the underlay.
It usually takes several hours for mildew to occur so you wont notice it untill later. If you find this problem after a detailing bring it back and have them dry the underlay. If you did it yourself heres what you can do.
Remove the thresholds (plastic runners you step on to get in your car)
they come out by pulling straight up.(mention if your threshold is different) Now place something to prop the carpet so air can get underneath to the underlay. If its really bad remove the seats consoles and then the carpets and hang dry the carpet for a couple days. If this description is too vague for you feel free to send me a PM and ask me to explain it better or for any questions on the subject. |
