With the upcoming show season fast approaching, I thought it would be a good time to bring this up.
The EPC is interested in putting together a show team of dedicated core members to represent EPC pride province wide....
We are looking to put together a strong team of atleast 5 core members that can compete at all indoor show-offs and outdoor sport compact events this year.
Your car can either be all show, all go or a combination of both.
We will also be introducing the "Prelude Powered" division to the scene this year so I hope that certain individuals will participate.
Here are some of the criteria items we would be looking for in order for you to qualify:
1.0 Exterior
- Body Modifications (i.e. bodykit, wing, shaved handles/badging, door conversion, etc.)
- CF Parts (i.e. hood, trunk, bodykit, etc.)
- Custom / Clean Paint
- Conversions / Custom Parts
- Graphics/Decals
- Underbody Neon / Exterior Lighting
2.0 Interior
- Custom / Clean Upholstery
- Racing Seats / Harnesses
- Conversions / Custom Parts
- Accessories (i.e. sport pedals, shift knob, steering wheel, floor mats, etc.)
3.0 Engine Bay
- Performance Upgrades (Engine Swap, Turbo, Super Charger, Rebuilt Engine/Internals, etc.)
- Bolt-On Modifications (Intake, Header, Exhaust, Pulleys, Engine Management, etc.)
- Engine Dress-Up
4.0 Wheels/Tires/Suspension/Brakes
5.0 ICE
- Upgraded Stereo Components (i.e. head unit, speakers, amps, subs)
- Custom Stereo enclosures
- Multi-media (i.e. DVD, TV Screens, Gaming Systems)
Most importantly, your car needs to be as clean as possible. It should be car show worthy...
For all those that apply to be apart of the official EPC show team, I will make the final decision on the selection.
If you are selected, you will be asked to attend pre-show meetings, contribute to and setting up the club display (investing money maybe required), sport EPC decals on your ride, wear EPC apparel at the show, and attend as many shows as possible... |

| Xx D-MAN xX |
For those of you that aren't interested in participating in a full blown show (i.e SCN), whether you think your car isn't quite show worthy or for other reasons, there are still plenty of other events throughout the year that we would like to see you come out to and support the EPC, such as:
V8less Sport Compact Events
ESRA Summer Cruise
Decibals Show & Shine |
| mike3 |
| I would go in shows and stuff depending when the first show is. Im not sure if my car is show worthy, that can be for you guys to decide. My engine swap won't be done until april or may, depending when i take my car out to sell my winter beater, but if you need more guys to show i can be there |

| im down. shows are always fun, specially when there are good turnouts. :fingersx: |

| Xx D-MAN xX |
We'll, the first couple of shows are World of Wheels & Powerama. I doubt anyone will be entering that caliber of show other than ManHunter. I have no intent in representing the EPC at either of these shows other than supporting Eric.
The first official import show is DTP at the Olympic Oval in Calgary on May 15th. I hope we can get atleast 5 cars to all roll down there together...
As for whether your car is show worthy or not, you should have a good idea of what modifications you have done, if they were done properly, and if your cars overall appearance and theme is good.
I don't want to be super picky but we should only register the cars that we feel should be entered in the show and that would represent the EPC proudly. Stock looking cars just won't cut it this year just so we have representation. |
| mike3 |
| So should we vote on who goes to the shows, or which cars are qualified? |
| Xx D-MAN xX |
I think the individual would be the best critic. If I felt that my car wasn't show worthy, then there really wouldn't be a point in trying to apply for a spot on the show team. However, there are those that think there car is the best thing since sliced bread but know one else feels the same way.
Having a "member's choice" poll is a good way for the member's to select which cars they feel deserve to represent the club.
I can set-up a separate thread where the applicant can either post a pic or give us a link to their hosted pic's, list their modifications, and give a brief description why they should be selected. We can then vote on the cars we like the best and highest scoring cars will be selected. |

| well i will think about it darcy will have to see how much time my car is going to be in shops or not cuz of getting sponsered by ts i will have my car done by mid march and after that it is to show david at garage works to see if they will and have to talk to my friend for the air ride in my car so i will let you know later |

| i have one of the only automatic SRV's in canada haha. does that work. ( rims and lowering coming soon) |
| mike3 |
| haha, an automatic is nothing to be proud of.(at least when its swapped that way anyways) at least darcy can still "shift" |
| 2ndgenlude |
true, true. i hate auto.
but it is unique. even though it is shittier.

sooo you have to have all this darcy? I dont remember all these mods on your car:rolleyes:
Having to have CF parts, Decals, custom enclosures, or some type of conversion as a standard for the "club" sounds kind of funny. |

I think you misinterpreted what I was trying to convey. I listed things that would make up the criteria of a show car and no you don't need to have every single item done to your car, just some of them. Why do you care anyways, you're not even part of the EPC... |

I'm sure everyone thinks their own car is worthy, seeing that everyone obviously loves their own car. Kind of like how all parents think their own kid is the smartest. |

| i disagree...most ppl think their car is NOT worthy enough after seeing cars like erics and yours.. and darcys rice mobile =P |

You mention that the dedicated show cars may have to put their own money into club displays. If I were to show with the club, for example, I would not want to pay for the club display. Isn't that what club fees/fundraisers are for? As I see it, the show cars already have/would have a fair amount of $$$ in them. Wouldn't this be seen as a club favor to brandish the EPC logo and promote the club?
Kinda like EZ charging the civic owner for all her mods + the cost of SCN registration last year?
I am not trying to start anything, I am just trying to have my own questions answered.

Since the EPC is a non-profit organization, the collected membership fees and the proceeds from apparel/stickers are to help cover the clubs operating costs and promotional items (i.e. business cards, flyers, banners, etc.). Unfortunately, since our club is still small in terms of our official member base, these proceeds have yet to cover our operating costs. We have had some help with our core members giving generous monetary donations. We have tried fund raisers in the past (i.e. BBQ/Install Day @ PE Tuning) but they just didn't work. So, the difference is covered by yours truly.
With regards to the cars that agree to be apart of the official show team, they will have to pay their own registration costs but the club will cover the actual display booth (i.e. display space, skirted table, and chairs). What we have done in the past is split up the cost of power for those that need it.
Each show car should have an idea of how they want their car displayed, which should be part of the clubs overall display scheme. So, when I mentioned that the dedicated show cars would have to put money towards the clubs display, it really is their own display. For an example, if you want a sign board listing your mod's, specialty lighting, stantions, carpet, etc., we'll, that would be something that the dedicated show car should bring and it wouldn't be the club's responsibility to provide.
We'll, have a meeting before the first show to go over display ideas, what people already have and what we need to purchase in order to put together a profesional looking display. I have done it in the past on a minimal budget. I was hoping that if we have a dedicated show team, that the participants would be able to contribute to the overall costs... |

| that sounds pretty reasonable  |

Thanks Darcy, I was just curious....and it does sound reasonable.

| Yeah that sounds alright, i think it would be cool if the members had a poll on which cars would make it, just so we had the nicest/original cars from out club in the shows. |

Do we want to do this anonymously? I can create a poll with everyones name and we can vote that way... |
| 2ndgenlude |
| that would be good, maybe post a single pic of everyones car too if you got em |
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| not everyones car...then ur settin up ppl for loss hah...only ppl that volenteer thier car for the poll..i would definatly not volunteer my car as is rite now its a shit bucket |
| 2ndgenlude |
| ya i wouldn't volunteer my car just yet either. but it should be somewhat worthy to be shown by mid-season |
| Shady_Pro |
| i don't agree with the poll because not everyone knows what the cars are gonna be this year...i mean im spending stupid money this winter and the cars gonna be (in my opinion) 10x as good...ie new engine parts (edelbrock and dc shit) and i know alotta other people have done things like matt with his dvd player and stuff like that...i think these descions need to be made after one meet at the beggining of the season if to give you (darcy) and everyone else a good idea of what everyone has done and then maybe go from there...i donno just my thoughts |
| mike3 |
| Yeah thats a good point, wait until we see everyones cars maybe cuz i know im doing a few things over winter, just like trav, and dillon and a few other people. |
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| im painting my car neon green with some wicked black racing stripes..its so hot.. with gold rims..its bling i cant wait to show it off at the shows this year |
| Xx D-MAN xX |
I agree that there are alot of you that have been spending alot of time and money working on your cars over the winter break, whether it's in preparation for the show circuit or if it's just things that you've been wanting to get done.
But with the first show happening on May 15th, I'm not sure if we will be able to view everyones cars and make a definite decision on whom we want to represent the club.
Heck, I won't even have my car back on the road until the week before the show...
Then, I think we should stick to the original idea of whom ever wants to register for a show and represent the EPC, we will accomodate you. I nor the EPC will select whom can or can not register. We will leave it up to the event promoters to be selective.
The reason that I brought up the idea of a dedicated show team is that I wanted a group of people that would be committed to attend all if not most of the shows this year. That way, I don't have to worry about who's going and who's not, do we have enough cars, blah blah blah... |
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| yea i agree with u darc..we need some more commitment..its not fair to go through all the work you do and then no one wants to participate..like i told you before once i get my car on the go ill go to every show no matter where as long as it doesnt interfere with work. my plans should be in full motion by mid may so i may or may not be able to make it to the first show..but for sure by june ill be able to show up more often then not |
| Shady_Pro |
| i can tell you right now me and trav's summer will be based around the cars...can't wait to spewww some nitrous all over the 4th and 5th gens lol jk's jks:p :p |
| Shady_Pro |
| but i do agree with having descion on which cars go in the shows...i mean we have to be reasonable with whos in and whos out... |
| 2ndgenlude |
haha i'd be dedicated to attend shows, but my car is stock, other then the swap. figured out my h22 is mated to a auto h23 tranny  but whatever.
a show team is a good idea. if we had a dedicated group of attenders, we would always be sure we would have strong representation at the events. that would make us a stronger club. |
| luder |
| Why don't we have a meet at the beggining of the year before DTP where all of us interested in showing would roll out to. Other members would attend, everyone gets to see the cars, we could take pictures, then poll on the boards. That way would be fair and reasonable and would also showcase the dedication the members have towards the show circuit. Thats my two cents. |
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| good idea... |
| 2ndgenlude |
| ya, sounds good |
| sly |
| I like that idea as well.I'm pretty new to the EPC and haven't entered any shows or even been to any meets in the past year mostly because of work. But, i've also done an H22 swap and 5 speed conversion on my 4th gen over the past year and have a new body kit, Tein suspension and shaved door handles to be done and installed and ready for the begining of May.I hope to be quite involved with the EPC in the future and look forward to the upcoming season. |
| 2ndgenlude |
| ^ you did 5spd conversion? im planning this and i could use all the help i could get. did tou have a write up or anything? |
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| its not hard at all... you said they did a auto swap on your car didnt you? so then all your holes should be cut already its just a matter of taking the auto out and swapping the manual in...take a few hours tops |
| 2ndgenlude |
| i heard i need manuel tranny of course, pedals, shifter/linkage, manuel ecu, clutch slave cylinder, and all the small stuff like clutch cable, and whatnot. i also heard you need to make a new tranny mount cause the manuel sits a little differently. i already have a SRV gauge cluster installed too. |
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| yea u need those as well..but you had previously said that the car was initially a manual.. then you said it had an h23 tranny...so honestly i have no idea what car you have...is it an SR with h22 engine swap..or was it an SRV with an h23 auto swap. if the car was initially a manual then the job wont be hard for someone who knows what they are doing...everything should be in place..where are the old parts you should have asked for them |
| sly |
| i wish i could tell you i did the work myself haha, but i can't. i got it all done at a shop so they got all the parts needed but i did have to get new tranny mounts. i believe i got mine from an accord. |
| mike3 |
I don't think you'll need new tranny mounts if it had a mt before. And i didn't know you were going with a cable clutch. why would you need the slave cyl. but no master cylinder, haha.
you will probably only need shifter/linkage, pedal, master + slave cylinder the pressure lines, and of course the clutch, and the different computer...thats everything i can think of off the top of my head anyways. and ben i'd like you see you do the swap in a few hours, haha. should be able to get it done in a day though. |
| Praylewd powr |
And I have a p13 ECU for your manual swap!
d |
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| i didnt mean 3 by my few haha.. i just meant it wouldnt take a day to do it...my dad has done tranny swaps in under 4-5 hours... |
| 2ndgenlude |
to clear things up the car was originally a SR and was a h23 5spd.
they then did the H22/auto swap.
most of the interior parts and such are from a SRV that was written off.
If i could find a place to do it, and i bought everything we needed, do you guys think we could pull this off in a weekend? it would save me soo much in labour haha.
im just gonna contact blackgold with a parts list and get everything off a wrecked car.
i should need new tranny mounts, because the auto mounts a little over compared to a manuel. maybe brandon could weld in new mounts :fingersx:
anyways if the club could help me out, that would be awesome. if not i will get someone like garage works to do the install. |

To get back on topic here, I'm not sure if we will have enough time to have a meet with all the interested cars before DTP in Calgary. That show is May 28th and I probably won't even be driving my car until the middle of May anyways.
I like the idea of seeing what ever has done over the winter months but I just don't think it will be before DTP.
So, that brings me to my previous post where I said that anyone that is interested in registering for a car show and wants to represent the EPC, you will not be turned away, unless your car is completely stock or looks stockish...
On another note, does anyone know or can recruit some girls that would be interested in being models for some of the bigger car shows. I'm not sure if I could afford to pay them. I would set them up with an EPC spagetti strap tank top and would buy them meals and such for the day. I might be able to swing $50 for the day but I'd have to see.
So, if anyone knows of some good looking girls that would be interested in doing this, please let me know... |

My goal is for May 1st or whenever the roads are swept after that. We ordered our rebuild kits yesterday so im hoping customs doesn't fuck us around and keep them there for awhile. Otherwise i don't see any reason why they won't be ready for the 28th.
Models...i'll find you some HOT girls to model  None of these dirty ones EZ likes to show off
