So i've been having a problem with my 1987 GXL the last two days. For some reason its been stalling on me and the idle has gotten relatively screwy. When the engine gets to normal operating temp the idle slowly goes down to 400rpm and then shoots right upto around 900 then back to 400 etc. I know it has been streetported but it never did this before. I'm wondering if its the TPS or what? Cause last night it stalled on me while i had the clutch in and gearing into second slowing down. Today i left it running for like 2 minutes to warm up a little and it shut off on me also. No instrument gauges or lights have been out of normal either so ya.. need some help please.
Thanks

Have you checked for any leaks in your intake?
I had an intake leak that was causeing the same symptoms. |

Well listening is one way, if you can hear air leaking into it.
You can try spraying small amounts of Carb Cleaner around the intake piping, the engine idle will spike a bit if it sucks any in.
Or you could take it to Doug at Abbey Road automotive. He is the mechanic I have been using for my Turbo II for 4 years. |

| Use a boost leak tester and an air compressor, leaks are easier to hear when the car is off. There will be a lot more than you think. |
