| If you upgrade a crankshaft, one to handle more power, do you have to upgrade the main bearing caps or add extra studs to hold the bearing caps down? What about the main bearings themselves? |

Generally, when rebuilding an engine - I'd take into consideration the quality of the OEM parts, and whether the engine was going to be raced.
On any engine to be raced, I'll buy better bearings off the bat and upgrade the rods, rod bolts, etc.... if the power I'm trying to run needs it. For some cars, stock rods/caps are fine, but the studs needs to be upgraded to ARP stuff.... |

It depends on the quality of the part, how it was made, who made it. After measuring your machine shop should be able to tell you what you'll need. ARP studs are good insurance when building an engine. |

Well as I see it doing a crank up weather it is replacing or machining it you gotta know what your doing and what the plan is....since well everything from the type or con rod to the type and size of bearings you can use.
Oem cranks and bearings are good enough for most aplacations but unless racing hard core is your thing then well it's the first place to start. |
