Getting Windows tinted at Malcolms Tinting? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Honda_Civic_25
Hey guys I have a question, I was thinking of getting my windows tinted at Malcolms Tinting but befor I do I just wanted to know if any of you guys have got your windows tinted there befor and if they do a good job?

Also I am new to window tinting, and I was wondering what is the most tint i can have without it begin illegal?

Mekanik22
Yes, I've heard good things about them. If you want no doubts, regrets, or anything, head over to Garage Works and get David Lee to do it. He's a great guy who does good jobs. I don't think there is on person on here that isn't impressed with his work/customer service.

malcolms is great, but fuckin busy, atleast for me. always has customers or dealership jobs.

you can have max tint(limo) rear passenger and backend, any tint on driver/pass is illegal but some places do it anyways, just giving you the warning it is illegal.front windshield is illegal too, but ive seen cars with an eyebrow, can anyone confirm if thats a violation too?

Check out E-Z Motorsports they take your windows out for a better quality tint job here is there tint booth gallery http://www.e-zmotorsports.ca/tinting.html

Best part about E-Z Motorsports is that they can take you in right away for tinting like Sat. and Sunday walk ins are welcome and usaully done right on the spot for tinting appointments

I got my tinting done on my IS300 on Chritmas day and other stuff Installed on New Years Day only at  E-Z Motorsports

removing your windows, thats the stupidest thing ever, maybe so they can charge for the extra labour involved

TRD_2
they don't charge extra for window removal and why don't you take a car that has been tinted elsewhere and put E-Z up or maybe shut up if you can't

then maybe you'll know why the windows are removed and thats where quality comes to play

besides i don't see any other shop putting up a gallery of all their work :dunno:

unless your going around from car to car with a microscope the quality difference wont even come into play, unless the new fad is just that, EZ may be onto something....

if the quality was so much better every place would remove the windows.

TRD_2
a lot of places will not remove the windows cause it takes too long or because they are cutting corners and taking the easy way out by NOT removing the windows for a better tint and tinting right to the edge is achieved by removing the windows and i've witnessed the process many times and being that i'm pretty anal about the quality of work on my ride i keep a close eye on it when work is being performed at E-Z Motorsports

Besides the  tinting boys at E-Z can usallyy flip a tint job on a car out in about 1.5 hrs and thats including the removal of the windows and reinstalled again with tint and that results in a perfect tint job

Keith303
as i stated above who looks close enough to see the minor discrepancies in quality anyways if there even was any.

TRD_2
you must not care about the qaulity on your car enough to care and you also stated that this maybe a new fad by E-Z but this is the way its suppose to be done by removing the windows its not a fad but just not practiced cause the step of removal of the windows has just been overlooked cause its too much trouble

I've had my past vehicles tinted at Europen Auto Tinting and they remove windows and then I found that E-Z applied the same process so now E-Z Motorsports takes care of all my rides

Keith303
I dont see how EZ can do a better job then the tint that was done on my last car. whihc in my view was flawless

The whole window removal thing is bs and is not needed, your making it sound if the windows arnt removed it will be a bad job. I dont think buddy is going to be competing in comps or anything.

EZ will hook u up y0! Just ask Trd_20, why else would he waste all his time advertising for them and typing out long detailed reasoning as to why they are the best in town. :dunno:

I myself don't like the whole removing of the windows cuz what if something goes wrong with the window, I'm sure it will be a pain in the ass to get EZ to pay for anything. As for Malcome good guy, I got my car tinted there. The only thing is that he usally only does the highend cars that come in(Bimmers, Porche or the NSX). He has a helper to do the Sunfires and Cavs that come in you know. I'm not super happy with it. It looks like he cut the tint to short on the side of the front windows and just used a strip of darker tint to make up the differeance. I will be getting David at garage works to fix it. I would say just go watch David tint but, I think tint is kinda slow right now. If you ever watch him work you will know what kind of work he does. But thats my two cents.

stuff
I have had 6 or so cars done by Malcolm and I would never go anywhere else. He does great work. One thing to be said is that a busy shop like Malcolms must be good or else he wouldn't be busy. If you can just walk in and get it done on the spot - I would say there is a reason for that........... (Unless the shop is less than 6 months old)

If you have any problems with something he is always more than happy to fix it for you. I personally saw him redo the window on my Cavalier because the spacing was not exactly even at the edge.

For "Newtuner" - if your window is as you say it is, with a spliced piece of tint - you should go back and show Malcolm because I know from experience that he wouldn't be happy with that either and he would fix it for you.

I have to say I don't agree with the whole removing of the windows either. Sure you'll get full thorough tint coverage of the entire window, but its the reinstallion of the windows that can be dangerous. Many paintshops also remove windows, and there have been dozens of occasions where the windshield for example was not sealed back properly and caused severe injuries. I for one actually experienced this as well - my car had a near-complete strip down for paint. The windshield was removed and not sealed back properly. One day I was driving back to Edmonton from Calgary and noticed my windshield bouncing, not cool. I have never dealt with E-Z, and I can't comment on their workmanship, but if you feel you can put your trust and safety in their hands then just be sure its done properly and check everything over for peace of mind. You can't bring your car back in for adjustments if you're in a wheelchair or dead. And what do I have for proof aside from experience? Walk into a glass shop like Speedy and take a look at their front counter. They have a handful of news clippings related to this.

I put a group buy through Malcolm's Tinting and they did an awesome job. I had about 10 cars in the group go through with no complaints...

Yah, he's pretty busy with walk in customers and dealerships (like BMW)... But worth the wait...

Good luck!

what kind of price for a 5 window tint?

Malcolm's tinting is by far one of the most quality places for tint in the city. I highly recommend.. i paid $200 for all the windows on my integra and the front banner.. and got doughnuts!

found that out the hard way 5 years ago...
i recommend malcom as well, he did my civic few years back when he was at pro tint and he did a really good job. he did the hatch (i had an ed6) in one piece and back then most of the hatch were done in 2 pieces, i was impressed.

malcolms best in the city, great work and lifetime warranty.

DOHCSTAR
I personally have been to three different places for tint for 4 of my cars.
The first place was european auto tint who did a great job but were kinda pricey - they took the windows out

The second place was some shit hole that i cant remember the name of and was cheap which = cheap prices, i think the place closed down

The third was malcolms tint and iv never been anywhere else.

Malcolm does some of the best tinting and 3M work in the city Period. he avoids problems by not taking the windows out and also provides warranty on all his work -- if theres a problem he replaces the tint no problem and me personally iv never had a problem.

My Honest opinion is go to Malcolm's Tinting and talk with the guy if you have any Questions - :blue: :blue: :blue:

Twisted-1
I've had 2 cars tinted at Malcolm's. By far the best tint job I have ever had. Not a single issue with it. Most important the tint is excellent quallity and will never get that ugly blue or purple look to it.
I got my truck tinted about 3 years ago and the windows got a blue haze to them. Looked really ugly. You get what you pay for. Now I make sure were I go uses good Tint.

Altezza
One of my freinds went to macom's tint and a great job was done to his car i think i might take mine there

ICED_OUT_RSX
he has done 5 cars for me and every single one of my freinds cars hands down best in the city
why else would he be doing work for BMW

CJDP
Shit yo! ya'll gettin robbed on these prices, my sis got 5 windows done for a bucktwenty. When it dried it had a few riples, he re-did it and everything was fine and it's a good job. it's right off yellowhead entering the ghetto.
