alberta honda feedback - Click HERE for Original Thread

2ndgenlude
got my car serviced at alberta honda for my out of province inspection, and a brake service.
i failed the inspection because of tire wear and a relay, so i bought 4 new tires, and the relay, got everything fixed, and passed the inspection.

thing is when i brought in the car i asked about the club discount on parts, and i showed my membership card to the person that took my car in for service, and he said for the discount i had to show it to parts department when i pick up the car. so i came back later, picked up the car, showed my card, and the guy said sorry, you had to show it at the beginning. i told him i did, he basically called me a liar, and was too lazy to make a new invoice since he wouldn't get paid to do it (shift over at 3, picked it up at 3) bill came to over $900, and he wouldn't take 5 min to make a new invoice when i did everything correctly. i know its a priveledge but it pissed me off they didn't care, they just threw me my keys and and walked away, not even a have a nice day...overall i had horrible service.

just wanted to rant a bit, sorry its so long.

The only time I have a problem is trying to get a discount on parts for service work. Example, if I'm in for an oil change, I should get a discount on the oil and filter that they use. I have yet to get a discount on the parts that they use during service.

However, your case is different. You bought parts through the service department and they should have honoured the card. I can see if you showed them your card after the fact but you didn't, you showed them your card prior to getting any work done.

So, this is my advise. Contact Geoff Haws, the parts manager first thing monday morning and explain to him what happened. If you have the names of the peope that were working at both the service and parts counter, that would be a benefit. If you can go there in person, it would be more professional and you could probably get a credit right there and then.

If you get as much as a blow off from Geoff, contact me by phone asap and I will call him to straighten this out. If he doesn't honour your membership card and give you back a credit, they will no longer be an affiliate.

under par service, no discount, even when i showed the card, was wearing my hoody, and have decals

and i have to go back monday anyway to pick up my inspection form, i'll talk to geoff

That is unacceptable. Like I said, go to the dealership and talk to Geoff Hawsdirectly first thing monday morning and explain to him your experience, both poor service and no discount. Also, inform him that you've already spoken with me on this matter.

If you run into problems, call me on my cell right away and I will deal with it...

if geoff is the short guy with spiked hair he was giving me the same treatment. i will make sure i talk to him, and phone you after with the results

Geoff is tall and has a shaved head. He doesn't work weekends.

I think the guy you were dealing with is Mike, and I don't care for him either...

I only deal with Geoff or Gill. That's it.

I only buy my parts from Yellowhead Honda, Daryl Jamieson...

even if they pay me, i will probably start going to yellowhead anyway

I talked with Tyler today after he had gone to Alberta Honda to talk to Geoff Haws about his experience on the weekend.

Geoff gave Tyler a discount on his service due to the poor customer service he received. Geoff assured him that he would talk to the staff that were working over the weekend.

As for the discount on his tires, both Alberta Honda & Yellowhead Honda only give discounts to EPC members on OEM Honda parts. So, in this case since the tires are not OEM Honda, no discount.

I'm sure if Geoff was there at the time, Tyler could have worked out a better deal for the tires but since he wasn't, the other parts staff really couldn't do much for Tyler.

So, just to make everyone aware, when buying parts from our affiliated Honda dealerships, the discount applies to only OEM Honda parts, nothing else. If you are buyer parts, make sure that you deal with the parts manager at either honda dealership to ensure that you receive the customer service and special pricing that you expect.

thanks darcy, that sumed it up pretty good. if i was to deal with them again i would only do so through the managers. i also received my out of province and finally registered my car today. through the experiance though, i wasn't worried about the $30 i received from the discount, it was more about the principal about the whole ordeal. i will probably deal with yellowhead now and see how they stack up, but im sure alberta honda can do better. Geoff is a nice guy and i wouldn't mind dealing with him at all. just the other guys behind the counter i don't really care for.
