Are they good cars?

92_WhItE_H23
from what i have heard, the NA is fat, and lacks power. The turbo is supposed to be worth its money. ive never driven one but i was looking into buying one last summer and did some research. if you want one try and find a good condition turbo

Kris_B
They look good but I would only get the turbo model.

be prepared to sink alot of money into it if your going to be bagging on it....from what ive heard there expensive to maintain.
other than that an excellent car to get your hands on!!!

RSN CRX
What year?

ChromeDragon
Depends on the model/year you are looking at.

The Z31s are pretty potent and not as heavy as everyone seems to believe they are. Factory curb weight is just over 3,000lbs. Z32s are a few hundred lbs heavier, but make up for it with a fair bit more power an torque.

What do you intend to use the car for?:dunno:

Nah... they suck, royally.

Assuming yours is in good condition, the main problem apparently is that all the power really chews up clutches.

That and parts are supposed to be expensive too.
I heard the worst part is how hard it is to do any work on them because of their cramped engine bays.

Over all, I've heard great reviews. I was going to import one untill I fell in love with the SILVIA!!

My car has been on the same clutch for years and it hasn't exactly been driven easy.

the jdm ones are ALOT cheaper....downside is many of them are auto that have been brought over, this is better if u want to take it to drag race, u get the advantage of brake spool

True, but a lot of times you get what you pay for.

Downside # 2: ALL of them are RHD.
Downside # 3: Sometimes the history can be questionable.

It is true that most of the fastest 300ZXTTs are auto, but that's when you're talking modded cars, not stock. When you get into things like aftermarket torque converters and optimized shift programs for your tranny, then you can have a major advantage. Stock vs. stock, Auto TTs are NOT faster than 5-speeds. I have never seen data or proof to suggest they are. Actually I have seen lots of test data to support that stock Autos are in fact slower.

As 5-speed TTZs go up in power (with mods) they become more and more difficult to launch and thats when an auto (mod-per-mod) owner can start surpassing what the 5-speed owner can achieve at the drag strip - in terms of relative ease anyway.

Hello

Dude go for a twin turbo 5spd. If I were you I would stay away from the J-specs. I have yet to see one that is in good shape or didn't need a bucket of work to get back into shape. If you want a Z check the edmontonzcarclub.com , if there is nothing there check calagary's Z club. Search you will find one for sale.

In regards to maintaing them:
Check and Change the oil
Fresh spark plugs
Make sure the ptu is in good shape, or buy a spare.

To anyone that says they are hard to maintain is full of $hit. The Z32 is way easier to maintain than the Z31. Spark plugs and the oil filter are really easy to get at. Really what else is there. The cars are strong if you know how to drive. Watch for wheel hop, Inzane can explain in further detail.

There's little more then this is required to keep then in good running condition. However, they are relatively easy cars to work on once you get to know the vehicle. There is also an abundant of info for the car that can be found at www.twinturbo.net Everything you need should be there. Regards. James.

They're only expensive to maintain if you don't take care of them. When I bought my 90 in 96, my money was spent on what the previous owner wasn't doing. Things like the tune-up, new tires, brake master cyclinder, clutch, alignment. Since then, she's been a most excellent ride.

I put it away in Oct :( , pull it back out in the spring. :D

She always starts on the first try.
