baker_jeff
Whats the difference?

I think they were started in 86, when did they change the style? Whats the difference between the old style and the newest?

Thanks!

Jeff

84-87 first gen
88-91 second gen
92-96 third gen del sol/crx

you work at a car "tuning shop" right?
shouldn't you know this already?

baker_jeff
I don't work there, and they don't tune. lol.

Do any of the body panels, glass, mechanical parts exchange between the 2 generations of CRXs? Aftermarket stuff as well?

shorti
nothing exchanges at all
although H, F, B, and D series motors will fit both

Well I have to admit I don't know as much about the first gen of CRX but I belive the second gen was introduced at the halfway mark in 1987 in japan.
I am not 100% sure but the D16 block was in the 87 CRX in japan only then the ZC for 1988 and we got the smaller 1.6 d16a6 here and nothing else till the Del slow/CRX redesign in 92 which came with the B block.
The first gen's had a 1.5Lt and I don't think they had a HF model....I wonder if they even really made a Si for us up here hmmmmm :dunno:
Second gen I know a fair bit more about since I own one and have torn it down and built it back up twice, There the more interchageable model era and for some dam reason only came with a D16 SOHC or HF model D15 here BAH!
Japan had everything good....Vtec or the ZC,Si & the SiR.
The biggest differnce's between the Civc and CRX is were the driver sit's, the gas tank is smaller to save on weight and space and there is no back seat in our models here but there is a strange attempt in the japanese version and there's some minor things in the suspension components but bolt up the same as a civc's.
Other than obvious body shape and glass shape there a civic/integra.
As for 3 gen.....well I think they did something wrong there,
I know it weights more and came with Vtec and can share suspension parts but it was a way different car which should have been a mid engine since it already looked like a mini MR2.

there was a first gen hf model. i had one, easy 40mpg all the time. the first gen also had an si but that wasn't introduced till '86 or something.

1st gen was only available up to the "S" level of trim, similar to the really notched-back Civic...which is to say a 1.5L I4 with a carb. The 2nd gen had the fuel injected 1.6L in "Si" trim, similar to the Civic.

The "HF" model was never brought into Canada, though it was available in the US.

K, I know nothing about CRX's.. cept wht they kinda look like, My old neighbour had a 92 Civic CRX though.

Wow, you really do know nothing about CRXs considering the last year of the CRX was 91 and then there was the Delsol.

SilverNeonRacer
lol heh i guess at the year.. coulda been an 89 for all i know... I met the guy in 98 so I dunno when he bought it. he didn't mod the car at all.. he barely maintained it. All I know is it was a teal kinda color and had both civic and crx badging on the back.

I just did some searching.. I've seen pics of the mk1 civic crx.. it's more curvy than that.. haven't found a pic of a mk2 civic crx.

car domain has a couple 92 crx's

slamdB
I think you could get a first gen in si trim, and I think it had fuel injection shich is why an si is better for a ZC swap. First gens haul ass with a ZC!

did you know that in Europe they continued the CRX into the 1992 model year?

so there are 11 people out there who know what they're talking about, and 1 dumbass in this thread.

I guess you are right. I take my comment back as I thought that car domain was a northamerican based site only and not a worldone one. But then if you wanna go into specifics you might as well start stating that the last gen of the began production in 87 where we only got it in 88 here.
