Smooth acceleration not too bad. Not much different from my GA actually infact I bet my GA is a lil quicker low end. I wouldnt know top end tho :wavey: <--- that would be me after 110kmh in the gtp's rearview Im guessing lol.

ChromeDragon
~35 seconds to 180km/h? My car can hit 180 in about 15-16 seconds.....I thought GTPs were quicker than that?:dunno:

Yeah i thought that they had like 270-280 horse with almost equal tourqe maybe its cause the cars so heavy?

ChromeDragon
240hp I believe. Torque is a little higher if I remember correctly, but not much.

Nightstalker
The cars are extreamly heavy feeling.. I have driven a couple of them before.. But you have to look at what I am use to driving I guess..

Altezza
It would feel the same to me considering im driving a buick lesabre hehe

yeah with the power of the car it has 240 hp 5200 rpm, 280 ft-lbs. 3200 rpm..the weight is 3450 lbs. 0-60 time is 6.7 sec but saddly it gets only 0.79g's in the skid pad and well thats kinda sad for a very wide car, i think it generates 7 psi of boost ...not sure ..just thought you all wanted to know :)
the top speed this one got up to is 197 before the govenor kicked in, and another GTP, 1998 version a little slower but it got up to 199 on the HUD and im sure it was climbing ...hah

I hope you're not buying into the Pontiac "widetrack" BS. If you are, go and measure the track width of a Monte Carlo, Regal, Lumina, etc. Any of the modern W-bodies. The SUPER WIDE Grand Prix is .6 of an inch wider than it's platform mates.

that took along fuckin time, shoulda warned, i woulda got some popcorn & drink

BB6SE
average...nothing special

When the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP first came out, it was 220-240 HP, depending on who you ask. It was Pontiac's answer to Ford's Taurus SHO, a four-door mid-size grocery-getter that pushed 220 HP out of it's naturally-aspirated 3.0L Yamaha-built V6.

The all-aluminum 3.4L V6 in the GTP had twin-dual overhead camshafts to bump the 4 valves per cylinder, sported 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, rode on 16" gold diamond spoke wheels, and had aggressive styling. The HUD (heads-up display) made it feel like you were driving a jet, instead of a car. Only the 7-way adjustable leather seats were more comfortable than a plane's, and the memory presets were really great for family cars with more than one driver.

Over the years, the 3.4L twin-DOHC V6 has been replaced with a supercharged 3.8L V6 (a la Bonneville), that pushes a bit more power, but somehow just isn't as cool as the 3.4 it replaced.

Now maybe it's nothing special to look at these days, it's just another grocery-getter with ground effects and wheels. But back in 1990, it was one of very few family-oriented cars that pushed over 200 horsepower. In fact, it put out as much horsepower as a Mustang GT did.

It was also one of the first domestic cars to boast overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. Although it wasn't a first to boast Ram Air, it is arguable that the setup really could produce an extra 15-20 horsepower.
