I don't know ehre to put this, but if its in the wrong page can a mod please move it..
But anyways, I bought 2 acura emblems the other day, and I was wondering if there was another way to hook up back emblems so they arent connected to the brakes (the emblems lgiht up) so the back one only lights up when I hit the brakes.
Also whats the best way to remove the old glue n junk behind the2 old emblems, my friend managed to get most of it but theres still a lil left.

Use Goo-Gone on the old glue stuff.

For the light, you want to hook it up as a brake light? Wire it into your factory third brake light.:dunno:

Try wiring it into your licence plate lights. Or better yet...stay away from the rice.

I did wire it to my 3rd brake light, but it only lights up when I hit the brakes..
THe license palte light, isnt it on the botom? I want to try to hook it onto something that wont need me to run a wire all the way down do my taillights or license plate lgihts..

And my car isnt riced.

All there is in that area is your licence plate light, or your daytime running lights. Both are not wired through the hatch so require a somewhat difficult install. You will have to run some wires through the hatch, and down to your lights, I don't think there is another way to do it. Good luck..........what colour did you get?

make sure you put them on up-side down or people will think you are un-cool

:p

I would have looked at it much differently if his question was how is the best way to install them so they stay on and not how to make them light up. And I never said that any modification to the outside of a car is called rice. There are bodykit out there that deserve to be on cars to make them look better. So you say that it is nice and clean then it should stay that way. Not onlyare those things illegal but also take away from the overall appearance of the car.

Just my $0.02

well i bought the emblems that lgiht up, thereofre i was asking how to do it right, not just stick em on.
But call my car rice, thers nothing about my car thats riced.

Well I'm not a fan of those light-up emblems, but I'll bite my lip here :p

The best way to wire it up is run a wire from the emblem to your taillights, that way it will light up when you turn your lights on.

I'm assuming you don't need it to be on during the day with your daytime running lights, since nobody will really see it anyways.

Open your hatch, and remove the plastic covers that surrond the edge of the window. Be careful when you take these plastic pieces off, the clips might break, they're usually small and flimsy.

You'll be able to run the wires (hot and ground) through this area, but you might have to use some tie wraps to keep em in place.

At the top of the hatch, where it's hinged to the car, there should be a rubber hose type thing that the wires are running through. You'll need to slip your wires through here, and continue running them down through your car towards your brake lights.

You'll have to remove more plastic pieces to get the wires through to your lights, be patient so you don't break anything.

Once you get the wire to your lights, test and make sure which light you want to tap into, and just splice the wire. Ground the other wire to the body somewhere, just with a self tapper screw wherever it'll be outta the way.

And you should be good to go. You might need a heat gun, or just a lighter, to soften up the sticky tape on the back of the emblem, it'll stick way better if you do that.

Good luck with the project, lemme know how it goes :D

Hey thanx for the tip, I got the back ones off, but I'll tell my friend about the tailight thing, he thoguht we had to run it all the way down, but I'll try to find those wires for the tailights, since my back emblems only light up when I hit my brakes.
