which exhaust do you prefer?? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Heilos
Okay so guess what happened to me today...

Leaving work on an errand to get something FOR work... and when I got back into the parking lot, my car starts making this horrible sound... So I park it right in the middle of the lot and get out, only to see my muffler dangling!

So, now im stuck with an open pipe and a muffler under the hatch of my 240. Damn loud!

Obviously, I need a new exhaust, but im at a loss as to which brand I would like, so here I am asking you guys.

Another problem... I'm going to be swapping in an sr sooner than later, and i'm thinking that I may just splurge and get the whole thing done now, cuz of exhaust diameter and whatnot... I'm the kind of guy that when something breaks, it's just a reason to buy something big and expensive to replace it...

But basically, which brand exhaust do you guys like best and why?

LeadBoots
Borla , Mean and not fartty

RSN CRX
GReddy sounds nice and quiet on turbo cars.

notaturbotalon
Buy your pipe from somewhere like Greggs, and then you or a friend can build your own. My 3" turboback exhaust cost me $156, I already had a muffler though.

Kris
I agree with make your own.

blown_mr2
I had a GReddy Evo installed on my Prelude SR-V: Very nice deep growl, stainless steel, looked great and was a nice step up from the stock system.

This time around I'm going w/ a Blitz NUR Spec R on the 2: main reason was very nice gains from this system and looks nasty on MR2's. Not installed yet, so that's all the feedback I can leave on that.

Nightstalker
HKS

phat240
hks j-spec is what i have

Neo-Blue99GASE
Custom made with a borla muffler, definatly nice sounding ;)

twinturbo
Custom made with magnaflow muffler and high flow resonator.
Nice growl on my old 4cylinder without being to loud or obnoxious.

New car has 3.5 inch HKS, but I haven't heard it yet. Let you know how it sounds on the SR20DET when I do get it though.

Nis24O
RSR ex-mag. The quietest 3 inch exhaust you can buy for an s13.

stealth
Ractive.

Naa personally for me, i wanna purchase a Top Fuel Exhaust only found in japan.

Then i would go with the blitz nurspec.

So either one of those companies are good.

Adam
I 've had a couple magnaflow mufflers now...very reasonably priced and sounds great. They dont rasp out over time either which indicates good packing internally.

More often than not you are looking for sound quality as most exhausts make the same power.

A 3" HKS mandrel exhaust will more than likely make the same power as a 3" homemade mandrel exhaust. (not picking on HKS, just an example)

my .02

I'm looking for a nice deep sound with no raspy sound either. I don't want it to be *too* loud either..

SWITCH NOW!!!! :p

DSM
I agree with the other 2 DSM owners and make your own. Just get the muffler you want a do the rest your self. It will be a lot cheaper and you can then spend money else where.
