Limited Slip ??? - Click HERE for Original Thread

SunkistShark
Hey has anyone ever heard of "PHANTOM GRIP" LIMITED SLIP ?? I was wondering if anyone has any info on this product before I buy it. Like is it any good?

oldraven
Tiburons can spin tires?

;) jk man. No, I have never heard of "PHANTOM GRIP". What do you have for performance upgrades that require a limited slip?

SaabKraft
i've heard of it over on saabcentral.com, an alternative to quaife LSDs. i think it's just a rudimentary mechanical LSD. we've not heard back from one saaber who bought it yet, and quaife's require massive group buys (probably because of our odd swedish gearboxes)

i thought your car was a show car? most guys aren't too worried on an open diff in FWD until they break 200 lb/ft torque.

SunkistShark
Sorry guyz I shoulda been more specific. It's for my friends 90 Eclipse.

SaabKraft
RSX guys talking about install, opinions, strength etc
http://forums.clubrsx.com/archive/i...p/t-173615.html

apparently it's not a *true* LSD. but it seems to be popular and cheap.

Anonymoose
Its basically to blocks of metal with a spring in the middle. Nowhere near as advanced as a Quaife but it serves its purpose if you're a drag racer.

Tell your frined to go onto DSMtuners and do a search. It is no where near what a quaife or kazz is but it will help out.

SunkistShark
Thanx guys been lots of help.

OBX LSD is one i recommend if its not too late

SunkistShark
OBX? Where'd u find that?

IDTrav
i looked into a phantom grip LSD but heard nothing but bad experiences with them.

DSM
If your friend wants that type of LSD then I would tell him to look into Slowboy Racing or B&M. But hif he has some money then I would go with a quaife or kazz.

Pro Drag
I wouldn't recommend a Phantom Grip on a daily street driven car.

Does your friend want the front or center diff?

scooby_dooby
Ya everyone says bad things about phantom grip, I'd stay away.

The OBX LSD's are replica's of the Quiafe's, literally, a member on honda-tech took it apart piece by piece and said the quality is not as good as the quaife, but it's like a 1/3 of the price and probably much better than the Phantom.

Also that member runs a shop that sells Quaife, so take that as you will.

One test guinea on Team-Integra is using an OBX LSD with his 600hp integra, he's bagged the shit out of it and it's still holding up.

OBX has a terrible reputation, but these LSDs seem to be holding up great on the track.

If he is on a budget quaife doesn't really fit in. Great product yes, cheap no. And I would go with Kazz over quaife.

SunkistShark
Does anyone know if a 1st Gen AWD Eclipse comes with LSD?? And if it does would it fit onto a FWD???
