I made one before.

I went to Dow and talked to a couple people who went to Nait, one person for a different program. They told me about ASET and that helped me get some more background information. I followed them around while they worked too.

But after I did it all, only a Career Counsellor quickly flipped through the two pages... I think it's really to show them you are interested in the program, and that you have an idea what it would lead to.

Maybe visit a local dealer and asked to talk to a mechanic? Ask if they enjoy the work, what their pay is like, what it was like when they first got out of school.

Hope that helps some.

Goto Career Services at NAIT, and book an appointment with one of their counsellors - I see them help people with this sort of this all the time.

The purpose of the career investigation is in case the program becomes oversubscribed, then they have a method of determining which students get in.

It's not based all on the career investigation, however it gives the program some leeway as to who they are going to choose.

Some programs actually weigh the career investigation fairly heavy as well.

Don't you have to be an apprentice in order to get into Auto Mechanics? I'm in Auto mechanics and I need 1500 hours working before I can go to school again.

I believe NAIT offers a course so that people with no experience/education can get some before starting their apprenticeship.

I just finished mine this weekend.

I used the 12 questions on the career investigation site, and expanded on them and went into depth.

It came out to 3 pages long.

i took the same course, i applied very late i think in the beginning of august and the course starts on the last 2 weeks of august. I'm guessing i got lucky and maybe my career investigation helped, but apply early. If your applying for AMC (automotive mechanics certificate) its not a bad course, I had Mr.hewitt and Mr.Nicholes (sp?) as my instuctors they weren't bad, bunch of jokers tho. I got a job right after i finished my last exam and I'm now an apprentice at westside acura already working off my second yr hours.
