Alright, I am going to pick on the expertise fo all you VW people.
I have a friend that has a 2000 VW Beetle 2.0L We went to change the passanger side foglight and drivers side low beam tonight as they were burnt out.
The foglight change was a success, only to find out that the light was not burned out. There appears to be a problem with the wiring for the light. The drivers side one works well, but the passanger side one does not light up? Have there been problems with the VW Beetle foglight wiring in the past, or could this be a loose or broken connection somewhere?
My second issue is that we went to change the Low Beam bulb on her car. However after removing the airbox components it appears that the black plastic cover on the back of the light assembly unclips and you can pull it off. One small problem, it appears to be stuck in the housing unit. Do the headlights need pop forward inorder to have this plastic cover removed or is there an easier way around it? I had located one clip, but was unsucessfull at moving the headlamp assembly forward. What do I need to do to remove this cover so I can successfully change the bulb?
I spend 2 hrs being very carefull and watching my tounge while trouble shooting these anoying issues as it is her baby.
Thanks in advance.

| I've never worked on a Beetle and I would definitely give you a shot in the arm if I was standing next to you (PUNCHBUGGY) haha but the foglight problem definitely seems like a broken/loose connection somewhere along the line. I would rule out the problem being a burnt fuse because the foglights are both probably tied together on the same circuit. Take a testing light to the foglight in question and see if you are getting any power. As for the headlight, dunno about that one. |

Hi n0c7 and MX5 Miata Guy,
Thanks for the replies.
I will get a testing light/ voltmeter (not sure of the term, but I know what it is) and check the connections. I think you are right and it may be a broken wire, or an unplugged connection somewhere along the line for that particular lamp.
I have checked out the www.vwvortex.com website. I found what I was looking for. I was sooooooo close but sooooooo far! I just needed to undo a small metal clip that I saw, but thought was for something else, then I could access the bulbs!.
Thanks again for your help guys.
