Opinions On Car Prices - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi all,

I'd like to know what the current price range for an FB RX-7 would be around. I know it depends alot of condition and whatnot...but I continue to see these cars being sold for cheap.
Do you think they will ever regain their value?? Or should I sell mine before it is worthless?
I know I had posted this last year and I had pretty much fully described the sahpe of my RX-7...and people had given me their opinions.
Well, the time of year has come around again and my dad asked me if I want to keep the car or sell. I know thatout of the 3 generations of RX-7 in Americas the first gens are woth the least...and they probably always be like that, but do you think they would ever regain their market value over several years?
Or would it be stupid of me to keep the car and expect its value to rise?
I am sort of at the end of the road sort of, either sell or keep. I'd keep it in a heartbeat if I knew one day it would be worth something, but if it's value is suppose to keep going down I would sell it before I couldn't get any more then $100 for it.

What's everyone's opinion??

Thanks

if you keep it rust free, and replace the wear items as they go, it could become a collector car down the road. but that means having it in concours condition, and keeping the miles low. doubt in the next few years the value will spike.

i think because they're realatively easy to get parts for, and used alot as track and rally cars, they won't have that rare status that other cars have. the turbo FC's and FD's steal our thunder.

out of curiosity, how much would you ask if you were selling you car?

That's the thing, I don't know...

Just briefly:

127,xxx km on the clock
Original 12a rotary and drivetrain
Rotary runs a little rich - taking it to Abbey Road Automotive (Doug told me it might be just a carb problem)
Interior is in near mint shape
Exterior is okay..no rust, but a few dings (door dings)

Hmm, the car was bought for $4000 back in 1998, so I dunno what it is worth now
My dad said it might be around $2500, but neither of us know for sure.

Thanks

Bump, anyone else have an opinion??
I could post a few pics that were recently taken of it but I'd have to get them from my friend since we took the pics with his camera (mine is a piece of shit)

A low milage original car might eventually regain some value. A daily driver, even in good shape, is just that, a daily driver.

The RX-7's popularity will always be pretty narrow because of the service difficulty for the average person. Ya I know they are not that difficult, but give one to a 18 yr old girl whose dad can't hold a wrench, and see how they enjoy the car.

There are just some cars that are "special interest" items. Look at the Porsche 928. It's a 300hp, 140mph, 5liter, double overhead cam, true GT car, and you can have an excellent example for $15k, that sold for over $60k in the 90's.

IMO the value will not spike anytime soon... Not until there is less of them around, but they are dieing off slowly. I would say just to drive the car and enjoy it for what its worth... If more people knew about the rx7 and how unique it really is and everyone had one then it wouldn't be anywhere near as cool as it is...
