first time i rolled in I parked next to i think an Rx7 or a 180, 280.. I dunno... if i woulda backup any further I would wet through the door of UC. then when I came back I parked between a honda next to the Silver SRT4 with Apex decals. The SRT4 guys made a comment, but I didn't hear it, I was looking for Prax. |

Being a Noob to the meets.. my first time it seemed that way, but if you notice pple circle hop, I walked up to a couple circles without any problem.
most ppl will talk to their friends before making new friends.
I've only been to to meet and so far all is good, I've never been left standing my my car looking like an outcast, and i drive a friggin stock neon. Mind you Friday i had the good sub box in and that got a lil attention... honestly I was only showing it off to Markgase2000 then everybody else showed up. |

Heh it was cool too. Just looking at your setup helped me out alot for future reference. Good advice too.
As for the circle of "elitists" , I learned these guys are school and work buddies and they do chat it up with oneanother first just like any group of friends would. I was stupid paranoid untill I chilled out and started talking to some of the guys. I focused on the guys that gave me a rough time first for example DC5PWR. After I met him in person I realized hes a nice guy just like I was guessing and was far from bein too good to talk to me. The rest of the guys that gave me a hard time were pretty cool in person too.
Turns out they respect us noobs when we initiate conversation or introduce ourselves without talking shit. Some are bad influences but are still pretty nice to talk to in person.
Take it from me I was having a rough time at first but it was all a misunderstanding and now I realize its not what you drive but how you present yourself. Most people cant tell if you are acting like yourself so your best bet is to be yourself and talk to anyone that walks by or you walk up too.
Most of this was advice given to me to help me lighten up.
Ill be active at UC meets so you can always talk to me and I could help introduce you to some nice people. |

It's cool joking around with people you actually know and are friends with, but when you go to a meet for the first time and you don't know anyone it's difficult to introduce yourself to anyone, and then if the next day you read on another message board that people are making fun of you, what are you going to do?
I realize it's how you present yourself, but some people presented themselves very poorly and you never know who might overhear you. I heard someone call will a fag because he brought his bike, and the guy came to his group quite satisfied that he had called someone a fag. Seriously I go to meet people and have a good time. If you're idea of a good time is running down other people for a laugh don't come out. |

Alright like I had originally requested nicely...to keep this thread on topic.
But it seems to be a lost cause and ppl are becoming touchy.
Let me bring out the bottom line:
1) As luder already said, every group has a variety of people. Some like to keep things low profile, others like attention. Some have common sense, some don't.
2) You can't judge a group based on a few of its members. But sadly enough, 1 bad apple can ruin the bunch.
3) Misunderstandings can lead to a lot more trouble than they're worth. Take things with a pinch of salt and try not to jump to conclusions.
4) If you call yourself a car enthusiast, then Be Enthusiastic For ALL Cars.
