Camrose 100 Footer and AutoX - Click HERE for Original Thread

DarrylBleau
May 28th. Mark that down on your calendar.

I'm going to be personally putting on an AutoX as part of the 100 footer event. We have the whole paved section in front of the CRE in Camrose, which, if you've never been, is quite large. I played around on it yesterday and it will be fun, let me tell you.

I'd love for the AutoX to overpower the 100 footers, so everyone come. Classes will be something simple like stock/mod for FWD, RWD, and AWD (6 classes), along with a prize for FTD. Yes, you can also compete in the 100 footer if you so desire.

DSM
How much?

DarrylBleau
Um, good question.

The 100 Footer is $20 so I would guess the AutoX will likely be the same. I would further venture a guess that there would be a combo-deal for both autox and 100f, probably $30.

Complete guesses though. I'll try to find out for sure. I'm not responsible for the financial part of the event :)

ChromeDragon
Very tempting. We'll see if my suspension is done by then.:D

DSM
When do you need to know by?

CanuckDave
sounds good, I hope I can make it out for this

DarrylBleau
I don't need to know at all! As opposed to the otherwise great AutoXs on the base, you don't need to pre-register. You can just show up. Personally, I hate pre-registering so I love this.

Wheelhop
What's the "CRE"?
What's the "100 Footer"
What time does the event/registration start?
I'll come unless something comes up.

So, what/where is the CRE in Camrose........

Address, start times..... when you have things all in place.......

Is it timed with autoX timers....... or stopwatch.... ???

100 footer.... ya, what is that?

100 footer is a dash kinda like a 1/4 mile just only 100 feet.

Oh I should be out I hope everything is going good so far.

Saleen880549
I thought that is what is was..... I could be into that also!!!

Brian

The CRE is at the far east end of Camrose. If you're coming from edmonton (or calgary, I suppose) you'll come in the west side of camrose. Basically, you just follow the main road all the way through Camrose until you come out the other end, and there are signs directing you to the CRE.

Tech ends at noon, the event should start at 1pm. Come earlier to avoid the rush. Both the 100 footer and AutoX start at 1pm. The people who are dual-registered (AutoX and 100 Footer) will run the 100 footer between AutoX classes. (So with 6 classes, While Classes A B and C run the AutoX classes D, E and F will run the 100 footer).

We are trying to get a line on timing gear. If you know of any we might be able to borrow/rent please let me know. If we absolutely can't find timing gear it will be stopwatch but I'm going to do all I can to get gear.

Price for either AutoX or 100 Fotter is $20. Combo price (both AutoX and 100 Footer) is $30. Number of laps depends on participation, but we'd like to see everyone get 3 runs at least for each event (AutoX and 100 Footer). I would suspect that there will be time to do much more than that.

As mentioned, 100 Footer is a 100 Foot drag. Basically a stop light type confrontation. There is a 100 Footer circuit that you can join up with as well which has additional events and prizes but you don't need to be part of circuit to run just in Camrose. The 100 Footer is obviously timed with gear. It's just too close of a race to do with stopwatches.

UPDATE:

We purchased a full set of raceamerica timing gear. It just came today so we haven't played with it yet, but this is what we'll be using for the event. So yes, timed with a complete autox timing system.

Just wondering, is showtime autobody still one of the organizers for the event?

I don't know if the company is officially a sponsor but I know they are involved, yes. Was there something in particular you were wondering about?

how strict is tech? is it the same as most soloII events where you check the battery tiedown and try to wiggle the wheels?

I'll (or one of my 'associates') be checking that your wheels aren't likely to fall off, your battery isn't going to fall down, you aren't likely to spill gas or oil, etc. All the basics. It has to be a machine capable of being road-worthy, basically.

im assuming imports are allowed in the 100ft due to this post, but in all honestly whats going to be the ratio? And also are slicks allowed?

I think Darryl actually got in the top 3 one year for the 100 footers, so imports do stand a chance.

Usually there are some guys from the local DSM club that show I think....

There are going to be a couple of us that show up. Yes imports are allowed. I think the awd turbo chev S10's and suv's take the win usually.

jkilloran
Maybe I should give my subie a run on the 100 ft... hmmm

I fully intend on winning FTD at the 100 footer event this year, in my DSM :P

The winner's car is featured on the t-shirts of the following year's event. Time to get an import on there.

Assuming of course, that Zippy's has the car is ready to go by then.

There are separate categories, I can't remember exactly how they are slicing them up but I think it goes by cylinders + number of power adders or something like that (with AWD considered a power adder) Again, if I remember right. It's something like that anyway.

And of course, there is also FTD which can come from any category.

RDS Celica
cool... if my car is on the road ill come check it out and put some hemi-boys in their place... haha
