| I've got a friend who currently has a 1998 Integra LS and wants to start a project to squeeze more power out of his car. Hes debating between a B18C5 swap, turbo the non-vtec engine in the car, or build a LS/VTEC motor. I'm not really familiar with the LS/VTEC engine besdies the fact that its basicaly a non-vtec block with a vtech head but what are the advantages? From the little bit of reading i've done it seems like alot of money/work for the power gains and hes better off buying a B18C5 or turbocharging the car. Does anyone have any experience with a buildup of this kind? and was the cost worth the power gain? |

a good ls/vtec is impressive, but ya, alot of money. and if improperly done, dangerous aswell. A crv-tec is also impressive and guys have netted 240whp with that set-up with a cam upgrade.
i've looked at it more than once, and the rod ratio on a B18a/b doesnt really compliment a high reving vtec head.
a b18c1 or c5 swap is a good idea. but to be honest a turbo added to a ls block is probably best. |
