Speaker advice? - Click HERE for Original Thread

qualthar
I'm looking to buy new speakers all around for my car, 6.5" in the back and either 6.5" or 4x6" in the front.

I'm kinda leaning towards the Infinity Kappa 6.5" speakers, I've heard very good things about them.

I've also been advised to check out some JL equipment, as well as Alpine. I heard the Alpine amps give a good bang for your buck.

I'm not interested in subs of any kind, just replacement speakers and an amp.

What kind of speakers / sound setup do you have? I'm looking for a decent system with good power and quality.

I have Aline Type X 6.5 2way components in the front and 6x9 Type R in the back. They arent hooked up to any amp yet but so they are running off the CDA-9835 which doesnt sound too bad but another amp is needed. I am planing in on putting a MRV F540 4 channel.

ive got 2 6.5" Boston Acustics FX6 in ther rear of my car. they sound very good without a amplifer so far.

i'm running top of the line jl's 4x6 all around cause i don't need bass. But if you love clarity, and amazing sound quality, go for jl i can't get enough. If you aren't gonna do a major upgrade i don't see a point, because yea you can get it louder. But in the long run i think only spending like $800 isn't gonna do a whole lot fo ya. If you want some really good prices on jl, alpine, clarion. Pm me, Or just ebay the stuff it's so cheap. at least get a good 300/4 jl amp. thing is crazy

just wondering if these speakers your looking for are for your skyline. I recently worked on a GT-R and replaced all 4 interior speakers. to get the speakers in the door to fit i had to mod some brackets to put them in.. and the rears were easy 6 1/2'' speakers but make sure you have a scew* Driver to put them in cause its hard to get a screwdriver on that rear deck.

qualthar
Yep they're for the Skyline, but it's near the bottom of my shopping list right now. I read up on the speaker change in the front doors on SAU before, and I'm going to have to rig something up.

Where do you work that you do speakers in skylines?

Hot_Wheelz
I work at Certified Radio on whyte ave.

qualthar
Ah excellent, so you would be the person who could suggest a decent amp for that system.

My head unit is a JVCKD-LH300, pretty basic, and I'm going to get the Infinity 62.5i I think they're called. But I know nothing about amps, my last ones were from XS Cargo :p

haha add me to msn ill pm you my addy..

If looking at an amp, id recommend looking at the JL 450/4, its the perfect setup. As for speakers, Ive personally been torn between the Alpine Type R's and the JL's depending on the prices for each model level.
