ok, I was debating buying this from JR..
Now Instead of using a test pipe, I found this..
Since a SC does not require backpressure, Do you guys think that I will notice more gains running this directly behind the header? It makes sence to me because the exhaust doesnt have to travel through my resinators/canister..
That and my greddy catback is only 2 1/4" I believe, so I would have to increase the pipesize from the canister to the test pipe to 3"
.....if your following the "increase the exhaust 1" for every 100whp gained" theory.
And I can operate this with a switch for track use and as a daily driver...
Also would my car run leaner when the cut out was open? because then I would probably have to dish out some cash to by K-pro instead of just having the reflash..
Informative Reply's only plz. |

| If you dont need any back pressure then bigger is better to a certain point. If you don't want to replace your whole exhaust with a 3" set up then I would get the cut out. |

I've never dealt with a cutout on a 4 cyl., but on my Camaro I get noticeable horsepower gains with the cutout wide open. Since you would fall into the highly modified category, I would think your 4 cyl. would benefit from the cutout right behind the header.
I've noticed that with my Camaro it runs leaner with the cutout open. Whether that's the case with your RSX I can't say - but with my Camaro that is the case. |

Run the cutout behind the header. Stealth.
You only need to open it up when you get beat.:)
If you are worried about running leaner, a quick open/closed back to back pull on the dyno with a wideband should calm your fears. |

hrmmm Ok Im leaning towards buying it now.. only 250USD
I guess for the potential "gains" i could get from this It would be a fair gamble.
Thanks for the replies so far guys. |

One other thing to consider. If you are going to run lean. Is it cheaper to buy the testpipe and such from JR. Or buy the cutout for 250 USD. Plus a wideband for 600~ CAD? |

Aaron, look into www.agpturbo.com they have a cutout that reacts with boost...it has a vacuum feed and a diaphragm and as pressure increases it opens to maximize flow only when you need it.
just a thought.
but yes put it behind the header maybe a foot or so back. |

DC5PWR, you may have seen this before, but the McCord electric cutout is cheaper than the Quicktime unit and is supposedly just as good.

You can get them from 2 1/4" up to 3". They are $110 USD but you have to buy the cutout itself extra. |

I've been quoted $300 CAD for the QTP package (Including cutout itself) before from a shop in Saskatchewan - PM me if you want me to send some contact info and I'll see if I can dig it up.
As well, I would ONLY go with QTP - that's what mine is, and that's the only brand I've seen that people don't have problems with.... |

I know it's low tech, but you can get a manual verson from Mr gasket, Retail cost was like $100 from JB's, by manual I mean it has a choke type cable you yank, which could be nice as you can set the cutout as open as you want.
