Put a large block of wood under your tranny (Its fwd right?) theres instructions on the bottom of the tranny for raising the block by lowwering the car ontop of a wooden block. It should also explain where the mount bolts that need to be removed as well. It raises and tilts the engine for easier working room. I dunno too much but thats what Id look for first. As for extracting I was with you on drilling but :dunno: other than that.
Good luck man!

u think a 90 deg drill would work??? or the head to big?

What about a machine shop?? How much u think they would charge? they got special tools n shit?

Soulfly
AWww.. Trev What did you DO?

do you have any LONG extensions that you can go through your grill opening? and maybe drill it like that?? then get an easy-out and back that shit outta there?

clapbak

If you're going to do it yourself, get a left hand drill bit of the appropriate size and do it very gently. There is a water jacket right behind that stud and it's easy to crack it and pooch your head. You can easily take the upper engine mount off your car if you haven't yet. place a jack with some wood under the oilpan.

Hey I was sorta kinda close well cept the oil pan part lol
Talons must have solid oil pans!

The FWD talons have 3 mounts on the block, 1 on the transmission, unlike the AWD. The mounts are pretty much centered, so if you take off the top one the engine will almost balance there, very little weight. A block off would should still be used to dispurse the pressure of the jack more evenly though. You don't want to crush it in and hit the oil pickup.

clapbak
great.. ill see what i can do with the 90 deg drill.. if not ill do the motor mount thing.. thanks for the help guys / phill :D

Those left hand drill bits don't work well at all.
If you can get in there, try to weld a bolt to the busted stud, then impact gun.

You have to be very careful when drilling into the stud as you could very easily crack the head. I have one missing on mine as well so I'm planning on taking it to Zippy's cuz I think that it is just too risky.

clapbak
the first one came out really really easy.. this one should too, its just in a weird spot thats all.. tricksey hobbit..

Manifold attaches to the head.

Just giving you a hard time, had to make sure you didn't actually think that.

and i hate to state the obvious, but watch the metal filings you shoot out while drilling... thats the last thing you want floating around in your head... they can go anywhere from there.

clapbak
yea, i got rags and what not laying around the turbo .. i shoud be ok.. thanks :D

YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPIEEE!

Came out with a 90 Degree Air Drill.. With Power Streering Pump / Bracket Ripped Apart..

i was about 2mm's off from starting to drill into the threds.. one more size drill bit - up - i would have been fucked.. :D

Waiting on my studs / gaskets then i can start to assemble her again.. should be ripping around the streets by mid nextweek easy!

thanks for your ideas guys
and thanks for blaine (pro drag) for getting me the parts n what not

go to pricess auto and get a stud romover. I t fits on a ratchet.
just soak the crap out of the stud with wd40. that is what I did when the bolts from my water pump on my old firebird siezed. just be careful not to have the bolt break again.
