Hey,
Its still a few weeks away, but does anyone have any idea how many cars we can expect to see out at Budpark on May 6th? I could be mistaken, but I think the first and last street legal events all turn up the most cars?
This is also the first night at Budpark for the Friday Night Drift Nights? |

Historically, oh probably about 100-110 or so. Mostly domestic muscle.
And of those, the number of members from 780tuners: < 10 |

WIth it being streetlegal are they still trying to rid the track of the less street legal cars and more drag-only oriented machines????
I know last year they had some sort of policy where you couldn't race on the weekend in the points standing if you ran your car on friday nights at street legals?????
I just dislike going out there and all these mustangs and whatever are running slicks and apretty much prepped for drag, I mean seems kind of lame to run a drag-only (mostly) car instead of something tha'ts 100% street legal down to the tires at a street legal event!
The bonus is, it's still a good time & it's cheap so you can't go wrong even for 5+ passes :) |

It's not like it's a competition Chris. Besides, when I was driving the Z I didn't lose to one Mustang.:p |

That's b/c you got mad skillz yo!
But on a more serious note, it gets lame racing the yankee powered steel tanks all the time. It's nice to race something more closely set to your cars standards.... I notice they'd like to pair up some underpowered civic with an overpowered Chevelle - competition or not, it just gets boring when you can't compete. |

| My car might be back from cow town by then. Maybe I can test out the sr on the track. :p |

I find the opposite to be true. Whenever I've been there the guy tries to get two similar cars lined up but its unavoidable to mismatch sometimes. After I knocked down a few low 14's one night he started lining me up against stockish mustangs when there were civics and other 4 bangers he could have lined me up with.
The most mismatched I've ever been was against a new SVT cobra and I beat him anyway. :dunno: |

Who cares who you line up against, you are there to practice and improve your time and skills. Not to beat some civic that looks as fast as your car. |

Some may find racing yourself fun, but I don't.... If I wanted to test driver skill and improve my driving so much I'd take up solo events, lapping days, and practice more than straight line driving... I dont' want to debate how driving skill is important in drag racing, I'm certain there is a thread from last year about that.... I was just simply saying that it's nice to line up with cars that are more equally matched to you so that you dont hand someone their asses or have your ass handed to you everytime you hit the strip.... that gets boring IMO. |

| Believe it or not i actually like getting lined up to a car alot faster then mine, i seem to run faster times trying to catch up. Everytime last year i would line up to a car slower then me i would run high 13's, then a car way faster then me i would run low 13's. Dont know but i guess thats just me.:dunno: |

| I usually try to get out half a dozen times in the year. If im not working, im very tempted to make it opening night at bud. I do hear what most are saying though, it kinda does suck not really being able to race against anyone. My 16 second Grand am doesnt fair too well against 95% of the competition. IT was cool to see stealth there one night and racing up against his buddy in the probe GT, man that was a close race and I was happy as hell I won. I found my fastest times where against guys I actually stand a chance against or at least a close race. Reminds me more of the street and I seem to do much better there. But ive found my most frustrating problem has not been my technique, but my tires. Im running all season tires that are best for snow conditions. GO figure, no wonder they've barely lasted me 45k. |

Yea that time was fun.
Considering my old engine had 35 HP less than his, we were pretty even. |
