Yes, they are! Spectators follow the same registration rules to get access to the base, so send your registration form stating that you are a spectator. If you are not sure if you want to run or not, register anyway to get access to the base.

you guys are nuts. Don't bother spectating, you will want to jump in and have a go at it. Don't get me wrong, it is fun watching the cars run around but it's 400 times better when you've got that helmet on and trying to make between the pylons.

Trust me on this... I tried to sit through one but I had to contain myself

jayc
Is this a timed event? Stop watches or timing gear?

Jay

CanadianR
just sent in the registration forms.:D I agree that spectating is alright, but it gets a little boring after a while. See if you can get someone to give you a ride while you're out there if you're thinking about driving one day. It'll be alot more exciting and faster inside the car as opposed to watching from outside. After you get a ridealong, though, you'll really be hooked.

No-Pistons
i have to check and see if i have that sunday off if so im there i cant wait to get my fd on the track:bthumbup:

CanuckDave
sent my registration in, can't wait, I've been dying to AutoX

Hi Jay,

It is a timed event, and if we can make our timing equipment to work, it will be electronic... otherwise stopwatches had served us well in the last couple of events.

I am usually putting the results out in less than 24 hours of the end of the event.

Thanks

Just a quick update on this event,

So far, we have 25 registrations, very good number considering the short noticed.

I will be posting messages with more details a couple of days before the event, stay tuned :p

Hey,
Two quick questions...

As stupid as this sounds, we dont have to pay if we're just spectating, do we?

In the info form, theres lots of info about the type of car. My friend and I would most likely get a ride to the event, and then get dropped of at the gate, and walk in. So can I leave all that blank?

Transporter
pretty much

but it is long walk from main gate to second gate

spectators are free

louren22
Oh well. As long as we know where we'e going, we'll get there.

Tracker, did I send my registration in on time?

If you sent it already, I would say yes, but I will check with Trevor, OK?

Hey Brian,

You are always finding an excuse to be slower than me, eh? :stickpoke

BTW, your name is not on the list for the base... were you planning to go on Saturday???

Thanks,
Tracker

Tracker
Well,

Talking about the Track, I've created a mockup of the runways at Namao (with accurate proportions, I believe) so you guys can go wild and create track layouts for our next events.

Send me your suggestions by email (tracker25rs at telus.net) before the event, OK?

Thanks,

Do you have this in the original (editable) format? I assume you used on of the cad programs to create it.

Thanks.

Hi Jay,

Your assumptions are a little bit too high! :p

The original document was a PDF from NASCC with the track layout of last years track. I cut the rest of it, cleaned the path and added some info about our preference of start/stop.

If you want the file, it is Paint Shop Pro (to keep the editable layers) or the above JPEG.

Are you bringing suggestions?

Thanks

Info for all Drivers
April 30th Event

Event is confirmed. We have around 30 drivers, which should give us around 6-8 laps each (more if the marshalling changeover happens fast  )

- Bring your FRS radios!!! We will be broadcasting times as you finish your run, as well use them for organizing the marshalling. If you have a spare unit, please consider bringing it and lending to a friend.

- Gates open by 9:00AM. Be on time and help us start the runs as soon as possible. It might mean extra runs by the end of the day.

- To help expedite the registration and tech (paperwork, which we don't like to do) and go quicker to the track (drive, which we like to do) I will try to explain the path you should follow once you arrive at the event.

- Upon arriving at the main gate, you might need to stop and identify yourself as attending an event from the RX-7 Club. (don't park and leave your car, this is a drive-through gate). This step might not happen as the rules to access the base just changed.

- Follow the instructions to go to the Airfield gate.

- Park your car and go inside the control office. Identify yourself (with your driver's license) to get access to the Airfield. DON'T FORGET TO STOP ON YOUR WAY OUT TO SIGN OUT.

- Once you pass this gate, a volunteer will be waiting for you to do your registration. At this point you will:
a) sign a waiver for insurance purposes. EVERYBODY PRESENT TO THE EVENT MUST SIGN THE WAIVER, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT DRIVING.
b) Show your driver's License and car registration. If the car does not belong to you, YOU SHOULD HAVE A SIGNED LETTER STATING THAT YOU ARE AUTHORIZED TO USE THE CAR DURING THE EVENT.
c) Pay the fee. Cash only. If you are a member of our club, confirm your membership number and get a discount. If you are not a member, get a membership and save lots of money. We are planning to have 9 events this year (including winter events).

- Get the registration form, park your car on the pit area and go prepare your car (tires, clean up interior, etc...). DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS.

- Once the car is ready, go to TECH your car with your registration form (very important) and get a number assigned to EACH DRIVER. If you have more than one driver per car, you will be in different groups. There is a maximum of 2 drivers per car (exceptions apply). Numbers are assigned in order of attendance. If you have painted numbers or pre-assigned magnetic number, too bad!!! We assign the numbers as the cars are checked. It helps organizing and timing the cars. Sorry for the inconvenience

- Next step is the Driver's Meeting. EVERYBODY SHOULD ATTEND the driver's meeting otherwise you don't run. Once the meeting is finished, we would either walk the course (weather permitting) or drive SLOWLY through the course.

- Each set of runs is done by half of the cars (eg. 1-20) while the other half is MARSHALLING (eg. 21-40). On our events EVERYBODY works, otherwise we beat you with a stick and flat your tires... More details on the driver's meeting.

- Times will be broadcasted by FRS radio. If you go to timing and keep asking your time after each run, you will be handed a stopwatch and will do timing until the end of the event!!!

- If you enjoyed the event, please consider staying until the end and help cleanup the track. The faster we do the cleanup, the later we can stay using the track for runs...

Thanks for you help.

Info for Volunteers

We are meeting by 7:00am-7:30am. Tim Hortons on 16039 97th Street.

I need help getting the cones to the base. If you have space in your car let me know by email RX7EVENTS AT TELUS.NET and we can arrange to meet by my place before going to Tim Hortons.

If you are doing tech, bring gloves, as I am sure other people's tires are not as clean as yours...

Bring warm clothes as the wind is a killer at the base... running shoes are a must if you are doing track setup. Also, consider printing the template I've prepared and bring your ideas for the track.

See you all there
