Paint drying.. - Click HERE for Original Thread

testingcheck
How long does it usually take for car paint to fuly dry on a car?

PraxRX7
1-2 day to harden, 5 days to cure...but you shouldn't get any crud on it for at least a week.

So after 5 days I can wash my car? Or can I wash it after 1-2 days?

If your paint was not baked on in the booth I would recommend waiting longer than 5 days to be safe.

And remember NOT to wax it (Unless it was baked on) for a couple months....

If it was baked?

ya places that paint cars have an oven (lack of a better word) that helps the drying process of your car. a full day in there is like a week worth of drying at room temp.

The baking help cures the paint - and can actually help you get a better than factory paint job.

PraxRX7
yea, unbaked give it as long as possible just sitting.

And yes, no wax at all for a couple months.

Mustard
if the paint job is done well, you shouldn't need to wax it for a while anyways...

let it sit and try to avoid really sandy places for at least a week.
