Has anyone here tried VHT Nite Shades on their tail lights? I am contemplating this, but because you can't get it off I am wondering if the cops are picky over it...
Also, how hard is it to do an even job that looks good?
Here's a pic of it on a 350Z...

I wonder if there's some kind of black/tinted 3M hood tape you can cover your tail lights with.
I don't know how good it would look, but you could just peel it off if the cops keep giving you trouble :dunno: |

| A friend of mine drove around for years with nylon stockings on his tail lights and head lights. It was really hard to tell too.:dunno: |

If you decide to try it, I'd recommend going to the wreckers and grabbing a couple spare lights to practice on, just to get technique down right....
Also - I'd think that actually sanding down the lense with a very, very fine grit paper would be beneficial.... |

| i got it on my singal lights and parking lights and i didn't sand them down just clean them very well and just put lots of thin layer on. i would agree with trevork go get some spare ones to practice |

| i've used it on my tailights on my last car, didn't go any sanding just sprayed a couple of light coats, then a clear coat. Cops didn't give me any problems, but it was not as dark as that 350z. |

| there was a year of the dodge ram 1500's and dakota where they had a shroud over the tail lights... if this cover is illegal wouldnt it fall in the same catagory as the shroud that dodge came out with? |

It is legal as long as your tail lights can still be visible at x amount of meters.. it specifies in the HTA.
Personally in that past I used a can of black spray paint, did 2 very light coats. I messed up once... to I turned the spray can upside down, re-sprayed the lense and wiped off the paint.

Thanks for the input guys :)
I checked JB's, Part Source, Canadian Tire and no luck finding it (Mopac was closed already)... everyone either didn't carry it or was getting a shipment in of it later. I'll try next week I guess. |

| Don't forget Best Buy (Right across the street from Mopac basically) - I've had good luck with them for actual parts... |
