Brake pad recommendation? - Click HERE for Original Thread

CanuckDave
well my brakes have been squeeling pretty badly lately, so I think its about time I replaced my pads.. just not sure what to get, any recommendations for brand names or types to look for? I don't need anything special, just whatever is decent for a low-ish price

Trowa
squeeling doesn't mean the pads are worn out, take it apart and clean it and the squeeling might stop....
and i'll go with Porterfield R4S when i get new ones:bthumbup:

i'm using kvr carbon fibers, $150 for all corners at matrix for a mk2, i imagine a mk3 would be similar pricing. i usually go to toyota for stockers, good quality and the price isn't that bad for what your getting.

BB6SE
i'd get hawk pads.

uncorkedsupra
i recently purchased jasper brakes, from crappy tire, at $60front and rear i got the worst brakes i have ever had, i personally don't recoment jasper brakes, try a well known brand name, and see what works well for your car and the kind of braking you do.
ie-hard brakeing vs. grandma braking, if ur like me, and you don't grandma brake give me a heads up on a good brand of pads that i could try on my mk2.

thanks.

carl.

thanks for the recommendations guys.

on an unrelated note, anybody know where I could find something similar to this around the city?

I could order it from SS but I want the mount this week if possible, and the shipping would probably more than the part itself..

Just so u know shipping from US is not as expensive as u think...I got all of my parts from US, but yeah, if u want it this week u'd probably want to find something in the city but that is highly unlikely.....

K&N
P/N 57-9004 for turbo supras
and
p/n 57-9005 for NA supras.
comes with adapter and K&N cone.

mopac says 2 days $176.10 <best deal i can find but jbs has one at the warehouse for $5 more.

for just the adapter, e-bay, lots of em for cheap, or buy a new one. either way you'll wait.

Hi Dave,

I can check with Jack and Charles to see what they can do about the shipping. They normally ship VIA Fed Ex and I usually get my stuff in 2 days.

In the past they have worked out some good deals for me. :D

just so u can compare, u can get an Apexi kit for about $40-50 less...but have to wait for it

Andriy

i don't know anywhere that carries apexi, and is it filter and adapter? if so thats a much better deal.

personally i would make my own anyways. or look for one of another toyota since lots of them used similar AFM's.

CanuckDave
thanks again for the tips guys, I've managed to find a slightly used CAI, and I'm in the process of making a custom mount out of stuff bought from RONA. good ol' ghetto rigging  just kidding, what I'm working on shouldn't actually be THAT ghetto, and I'm hoping will work quite well. I'll post pics if I'm successful in making this work..

yes it's a complete kit, and i payed like $130 CDN including shipping and all....so yeah....prices for parts localy are hugely inflated....

well i took the piece of the back of my afm, slotted the holes down and did a little grinding to clear the bolts and it worked perfect.

about 10 minutes worth of grinding and cutting and its a piece available in almost any scrap yard. looks factory except the grind marks.

plus we found out that his intake pipe (factory plastic piece) is cracked so thats his idling problem too.
