Hey All,
I just got a new (to me) 88 NA RX7 and the tires were bald. It had 195/60R14 on the front and 215/60R14 on the back. The speedo was out, so I figured if I had to replace the tires anyway I'd get something closer to the right size. My step-brother's a mechanic and he said that according to his books the original rims were a 15" 5-bolt, but he couldn't find a tire size. I have 14" 4-bolt rims, so obviously, it's been changed...
I was thinking too, though, that if I go back to that size with the 14" rims I'll lose too much cornering performance. I'm not going to get blinding speed out of this anyway, but I LOVE the handling and I don't want to give any up.
I've got a shot at a SWEET deal for a set of 195/60R14 Potenza 950s brand new (and they're not stolen!), but I'm wondering if those all the way around would be too small for the rear and put the speedo too far out. Is there a relatively easy way to fix that any other way? maybe in the computer? I don't really want to put extra mileage on the odometer if I don't have to. |

| Well someone was. It works just fine as far as I've been able to, but I have no idea why they would have gone to the effort. I still need to know what they started out life as... |

i highly doubt your car is converted from a 5 lug to 4 lug it is more likey they stuck the wrong model brand on the door
You have a base model RX7 you have the orignal rims that your car would come with if it were bought brand new from factory i highly doubt your speedo is out due to tires more than anythink it could be damaged cable or speedometer
if you would like more clarification on your RX7 post up your VIN number and i will break it down for you to exact model and factory it came from and to what number it was when when it rolled of the factory line maybe you may have the elusive #1 1988 RX7 but i highly doubt that!!
Sorry!! there are lot of ppeole that get confused with what model their car is and to add to the confuison there 6 different model of cars all have the same basic exterior some minor differences
Oh and wu willnot lose cornering abilting as long as you keep the OVERALL dia. 29" no matter what sise rim you get and the aspect ratio higher than 45 you need sidewalls to make nice corners and keep prices down |
