Which do u guys prefer? I'm looking at buying either one, but it's a toss up.
XBOX seems to have a lot of really good games coming out or already out (halo, splinter cell, SOCOM) etc.....but PS2 is still pretty high in the market w/ their releases in 1st/3rd person shooters, as well as driving games and the such. Well, this is how i view it at least.
What made u guys choose one over another?

i don't have either... but i'd prefer an xbox over a PS2.. graphics are better and you can do much more with an xbox... someone i know put a chip into his xbox and replaced the hard-drive it came with to an 80 gig HD.. he has everything in his xbox... he's even got an emulator. ehhe.

I just bought an Xbox yesterday.
Came with that segagt2002 and some sort of rollerblade game.
I like segagt but not that other thing.
I got a question for you guys.
You know on the back of the playstation there is some kind of plug in for "digital optical" wire. Does anybody know what the heck this wire looks like and where to get it?
I need one exactly the same for my Xbox. I bet I can just get it at radio shack or something. I haven't really had a chance to check. Since I just got the thing yesterday. :wacko: |

it's a digital audio output. basically a fibre optic for sound output. the bst for sound quality

Yeah the Xbox itself does not have one like the ps2.
But I bought this thingy magy that has the hdtv plugs two audio plugs, and that one digital one exactly like on the back of a ps2.
So digital audio output wire? That's pretty much what I have to ask for when I go to a Radio Shack kind of place? :) |

digital audio cable.. it's actually a fibre optic cable, so, no wire.
get you cables at superstore. i think i paid something like $12 for 3'

i prefer ps2. just for all the games and not just fps. rpg's

hey, i saw a xbox on sale for @269.99 no gst a few weeks back at compusmart west end. the box is opened, it's on clearance, and come with the two games, the racing one and jet set future. if anybodies interested give compusmart west end a shout. just thought i would share |

| my lil bro bought an x-box last year and it rocks if you ask me... i never was a sony fan... sure they have more games but that's more shi*t you gotta sift through to find the good ones... if you've got a comp just wait for GTA3 Vice to come out for it... I much prefer rpgs/action on the comp anyways |

yea.. its not abt the quantity of games.. it abt the gameplay of most games. even graphics isnt a big issue. Gameplay is #1 IMO.
i have a GC tho :). |

Where's the cheapest place to buy the XboX package? I know Wal-mart has it for like $298, but i also hear SuperStore has it for like $260 or $270 afte r a $30 off coupon.

I went to EB downtown to buy mine. it was 299.99 though.
I went there becuase they take your old stuff.
I was able to get around $120 off becuase of my PS1 stuff. They can also take computer games, not a lot of money for them though, but better then zero anywhere else I suppose.
And the guys there are friendly too. I had some problems with my xbox, and since I came back within a week, they just gave me a new one...
then, I decided to buy a warranty also... |

| goto EB like 83b18b1slow said and trade in some stuff if you're not wanting it anymore and to ease the wallet for buying an X-Box... or go to Superstore... my bro bought his at Wal-Mart but that was back when they were 450 or something... he's only 13 and spent that much money on a game console!!!!! I can remember going out and buying an N64 for 300 with two controllers, two games and all that stuff when I was his age! |

Yupp, Electronics Boutique be the place I am talking about.
It's in the food court of Edmonton Centre, right beside a Dollar store kind of place, and a coffee shop.
The phone number for the place is 497-7710
There also is a location in Kingsway, but I find that I like the staff better at the downtown location, and the downtown location is more likely to take your items. I tried to trade my stuff at the EB in kingsway, and I was getting no where near as much...
I'm not too sure what they take... no harm in asking if your not sure.
A friend of my traded in his ps1, and his n64, and got his xbox for free...
Mind you, it was A LOT of ps1 and n64 stuff.
Goodluck with the Xbox buy. It's pretty cool if you ask me. I haven't really tried out too many games on it. Sega GT2002 is keeping me pretty happy at the moment. |

Well the auction for my SNES is ended on EBAY already ended so i gotsa send that off. I bought an XBOX yesterday from Toys R Us. Superstore and Walmart all on the westend didn't have any in stock -->that is the Limited Edition w/ 2 games.
Unfortunately, the bundel was packaged w/ the old BIG-ASS controller that kills the wrists. I went back to see if it was a mistake and they opened another box, and it had the big controller also. Damn.
So they gave me a discount on the controller S.
I got the Xbox for$ 297, and the controller for 34.99.
Splinter cell for 64.99 --> pricematched @ Walmart.
Halo is a damn hard game to find cheap, i eventually bought it for $70. EB was selling it for $60 used......so might as well get a new one.
At least i'll be occupied for a long time!
