| Genki --> i know i know about future shop......i went to bcom and bought the video card...i was going to build another comp...but my plan was to pick and find parts when they go on sale (so i was thinking a month to build) ..so i went to bcom and bought the 80g HD ($145) and i found out there was alot on sale for good prices...so i bought more than i originally intended to(but no video card) i assembled the comp at home and all i was going to do was swap the video card in my other into the new comp to test everything...then the itch got to me and without checking prices anywhere else i bought the video card from bcom for $215 only to see the same card for $180 at future shop the next day... |
|
|
| Genki |
its actually $150.. there was a $30 mail in rebate on top of sale!
can u return it to bcom? |
|

I like my 9000 Pro w/ 128mb. I htink its fairly close to a NVidia GeF3 Ti series. The 9000 Pro is basically a scaled down version of the 8500 Pro. My CPU is too slow to run games at high/full detail (1.4 Ghz).
But i know wc3 runs faster witht eh card compared to my crappy mx200 w/ 32mb ahha. Also i can get about 35fps at 640x480 res on doom3 Alpha, compared to 10fp on my old card.
Drivers are pretty good no problems so far. One annoying thing though when i play NOFL2, during the menu screens (not in game) i can see a box around my cursor.... its like the transparency isnt rendered correctly, but that is only for that one part. The game runs and looks great. The catalyst 3 drivers just came out. But i have yet to play any games since I installed the newest drivers... it was suppose to fix some stutterign in openGL games. For $150 bux I think it was a good buy.
oh on more benchmark.. i ran the ffXI online benchmark thing.. i got abt 2465 on it with my computer...
more info on that bench mark here |

It's time to tweak that system with Speedfan and Powerstrip.
I've got an old AMD1400@1500Mhz, Radeon 8500 128MB, 384 MB DDR ram. Running at stock speed (275/275 mhz), I get 3960 on the FFXI benchmark but it goes up to 4480 with the Radeon 8500 running at 301 GPU, 320x2 memory. |

Here are my ghetto specs:
800 MHz PIII (overclocked to 900 Mhz)
384 MB RAM (Turbo'd Gate A20 Option)
32 MB Nvidia Gforce 2 MX 400 (modified cooling system for extra horsepower)
80 GB HDD (partitioned to 2 drives)
50x Cd-ROM (stock)
SUPA MEGA FAST 4x CD-R/RW writer. (can use to back up just about any cd)
Soundblaster Live! X-gamer
SOYO VIA CHIPSET motherboard
It is a piece of crap, but it works and runs any of the new games.
Some day I will pick myself up a faster computer, somthing with a little more power. Car comes first! |

Speedfan allows you to change your FSB on the fly, without rebooting. And you can control your fan speed from 0%(fry your cpu speed) to 100%. Powerstrip allows you to change the speed of the cpu on your graphics card and the memory speed, the video-out timings, refresh rates, etc. All on the fly, without a reboot. Do a google search for them. They are awesome! |

| Aaron, with your setup I don't feel so bad. 433MHz 15" monitor and a CD Rom drive that doesn't like to eject. -_- |

Bcom is actually expensive, I know other places to get cheaper parts. |

Here ya go. In my expirience Radeon still really sucks for driver support and is ok with everything else. I personally would go with GeForce
Video Card Comparisons |

My system;
Athlon Xp 1700
80 Gig 7200 Maxtor
512 DDR RAM
Radeon 7000 Video
SoundBlaster 512
19" Flat Hansol
It runs good, but I'm getting a new Video card right away so I can play Unreal2
Good!! |
