cheaper car insurance permits us to buy almost any car out there with out the worried of killer insurance prices....but does "the need for speed" still run in your viens....for me i feel more "seasoned" now and though i like fast and nice cars..i rather drive cars like a sunday driver every day of the week no matter what car i'm in....is it just me?...

Yes, once you reach the age of +25 years, you do receive a reduced insurance rate. However, the type of vehicle you drive will still determine the insurance premiums you pay. Example, the premiums from a neon are alot cheapier than a corvette.

Personally, I drive my car with care because its a daily driver and I want to maintain its prestine condition. However, I do rip it up once in awhile to fulfill my "need for speed".

I think a lot of it has to do with knowing your car as well. If you are under the age of 25, you could not have possible have had that much experience with any car.

Everytime I get a new car I have to relearn it.

I drive my car carefully, I wouldn't want anything to happen to it after all the money I've spent on it. And besides, I can't punch it until the turbo is tuned. Maybe the need for speed will come back after that. :)

i drive pretty slow, but only cuz im afraid of FR...

i drive slowly during the winter, but sometimes in the summer i goof off, mind you im only 23, so i might be missing something you +25s know.

i figure racing belongs on the track, or some empty highway where the local police are lenient.

That's gonna change when you get the turbo running Eric :)

I still have that craving to get down the the track and rip it up.

Yeah, that's what I fear. :)

dogstar: I don't think NCC1701D was talking about racing... although I could be wrong.
I think he's just talking about speed.
As for me.. I'm 30+ and I still have my sport bike.. still have my Talon (with baby seat) hehehe... and I'm still planning on getting a larger turbo for it.
It's my daily driver and I still like to hang it out there on the road.
I'm a fast driver... not a RECKLESS driver.
I've never street raced.

You don't really have an appreciation of speed until you're hanging off a bike at 140Kph with only a helmet and leathers as protection.

I don't think the need for speed will go away... you just know better as you get older.
By 'know better' I mean you know what to look for in other drivers and you know what to look for on the road, to allow you to drive faster.

just my .02
take it for what it's worth.

blueblur: i totally agree with your comment about the bike, i used to ride a ninja 600r, and yeah, it puts speed in perspective.

i want another sportbike, but for now, ill concentrate on my car and truck.

BlueBlur ---> well said......i guess for me as i get older year by year...i still like speed ...but i guess i'm more hmmmm......i'm starting to think of years ahead.....it's kinda like this ...when i was younger i still to always listen to power92 now ...i'm starting to listen to OH NO 630ched and other easier on the ears radio station....

i'm starting to realize what all those police slogans mean (eg speed kills, watch your speed ,,etc etc) it no longer bothers me that a speed limit is 50 and people are driving 50 ....hmmmm i truely am more "seasoned" now....

I have found the more experience I have the better I drive. I still consistently am over the speed limit. The car cruises best 3000rpm 4th gear. I slide and have fun all winter but in summer I leave my racing for the track. I find the lack of traction in winter really helps promote car control. Being closer to 30 than 25 is a good thing, experience can't be substituted. People driving the speed limit still give me grief. What's the point to following like lemmings?

They all eventually die together.... the key to being a good driver is knowing your vehicle and being able to control it at all times. If you can't show good control over your ride, are you just along to be taken for ride? In life there are drivers and passengers, I just wish the passengers wouldn't drive!
