Hmmm...what does the US Senate say this Real ID is going to be used for???

Depending on the type of information held within the card, I'm not sure this is such a big deal.
:dunno:

It looks like it essentially has the same information as a driver's license.

sparkycivic
why does religeon belong on a ID card????? so they can scrutinize you for being members of certain specific sects?
All I can say is I am glad that I live here, and not there.

ahh yes..
however..

Do you freely give out your information?
do you let bars scan your DL?
if so;
what is your address and your phone number.

all info is in a national central Db, available to all states and the federal gubmint.
it's also easy to steal your identity...

What's to stop them from requiring national ID to travel between states?

Papers... where are your papers....

AND .. living next door to a totalitarian state... how long before our somewhat bent guvmint decides that ... "hey that's a good idea.. we can gather info on everyone"

Are you even aware that Telus sells your information to fundraising societies?.. like the MS Society?
Even if... EVEN if.. you pay to have your information UNLISTED!
read the fine print.

And yes... why DOES "Religion" belong on a national ID card?... what's to stop them from adding.. oh, say... "RACE"

good points

well... they've gone and done it..

"The U.S. Senate has passed the $82 billion Iraq Supplemental Spending Bill (approved by the House last week), which includes the Real ID act driver's license reform The National Governors Association has indicated at the possibility of a lawsuit to challenge the constitutionality of the Real ID provisions, which would create national driver's license standards, and a federal database of information from all 50 states."
