The sound I am hearing, kind of like a metal to metal grinding sound. Only occurs when I am turning left at a reasonable rate of speed say 25 kph - 35 kph, the sound is especially noticable when I am turning left and going over bumps on the road.
Any clue as to what this is? It never happens when I am turning right. |

| The car has less then 70,000 km. Can a CV joint wear out that fast? Mind you the car is lowered, do you think lowering will wear out the CV joint faster? |

Hi Ayu,
CV Joints usually make a clicking noise when they are worn. It may be possable that your wheel bearing is on its way out.
What type of vehicle is this hapening on? What side is the noise coming from? It may be possable that something is loose in your front end that may simply need to be tightened.
You can check your wheel bearings by jacking the vehicle and trying to shake the wheels in a back and fourth motion. (try to pull the wheel towards you and try to push the wheel away from you) If the wheel wobbles is could be your wheel bearing or ball joint. Check for play in it.
Hard to say.

thx for the responses people.
The car is a 2001 Civic, the side I am hearing the noise is the front driver side.
Whenever I am travelling in a straight there is no noise, it only happens when I am turning at the speeds stated above.
The car is lowered on with the Tein SS suspension.
I will check the wheel bearings. |

Yes, agreed. That would cause a noise similar to that. Check the inside of your fenders (the plastic splash sheild) for melted plastic as to where the tires would be rubbing.

| Hmm that sounds like a good idea, however the car is only lowered by 1.5 inches, the tires are 205/50/15. There is at least 2.5 finger gap in the front. |
