| What do you mean that you have an internal modem? Is your ADSL Modem internal or external? I've never heard of an internal ADSL modem. Just get a router or hub and connect both the computers and the ADSL modem into the hub/router. |

there is internal modem, if thats the case, you will need a extra network card for that computer, and then connect them throught a hub/router, the short fall is the main computer has to be always on for the rest to share internet access.
are you sure you have a internal dsl modem? |

or.. u can jsut connect both comps via network cable with NO router/hub. But in this case the comptuer wiht the modem will have to be on if the other computer needs to use the net |

I think perhalps this takes a little more explaining guys.. OK, no ADSL.. or any DSL connection.. your service provider will give you a external [U] modem. what you have in your computer is a ETHERNET/LAN networking card. you are going to need one of the following..
HUB
ROUTER
EXTRA ethernet card.
Now who is your service provider.. you actually get two IP addresses with telus so you actually don't have to share your connection. I am not sure about other DSL provers here in town. Basically all you have to do is run the cable from the eathernet cars in your computers to the router or hub, then into the modem. with the telus versions you have to set your modem to see that it is connected to a hub and not directly to your computer. there is a button you simply press to do this.
If you have a router it will have to be configured to match the adapter addres that is connected to that IP addres..
This is going to take a lot of explanation to do over the forum. |

| I could be wrong, but I think I've seen some internal ADSL modems before. |

| if it is an internal modem, there should be a port that can connect that internal modem to a hub/router no? If there is go get a Linksys hub and then connect the cable from your internal modem to the correct pin in the back of the hub then run a cable from the comp to the hub and one from your other comp to the hub that way both comps can also share the info, share printers, access h/d's on the other comp that sort of thing. The linksys offers a very reliable firewall as well now if it's an internal modem then you'll just have to network the two through a router.. it's not necessary but hey why not and you're all set.... |

I agree with S.A. porche911t..
The easiest way is to get a Linksys router.. It's also a firewall and is pretty secure. It usually comes in a 4 port configuration. More than enough for what you need.
This is what you need:
each computer needs a network adapter (get a 10/100)
cat-5 cables to connect the computers to the router (from compusmart.. the drones there can help you)
DSL modem connects to the router,
each pc connects to the router
router is set as a dhcp server so it will give out IP address to your computers
bada bing.. you're connected.
(heheh... or something like that)
