Good place to buy a new computer? - Click HERE for Original Thread

TurboTony
Anyone have any suggestions about where to buy a new computer? All I need is the tower. I already have a decent monitor and speakers.

i'm not looking for anything fancy, I'm not into gaming, etc. Just a decent system that will be somewhat upgradable in the future.

TIA

Tony

Lots of places around...

Future shop...

COmpusmart.. (check clearance section)

computer people on stony plain rd and 156th street.
(good place if you know what you want) i.e. specific motherboard..etc.

I guess it depends on how much you are willing to spend.
Brand name or piece it together yourself?

if you want a built, boxed, warranteed computer, get a dell.

24 hour tech support, and decent components at a reasonably high price.

otherwise, i suggest building it, or telling someone like me what you want, and they can recommend components you can use, then take the list to a store and get them to assemble it for you.

i say take it to a shop because i dont do tech support, and its not good business to build a product you cant stand behind, no matter the reason.

agree;d... i have a dell. and man the box is awesome. I never seen a box built like this :)
a vent from teh CPU HS to the back of the computer powered by the huge ventalation fan typically found. Im hoping this is sucking the air out and not blowing it in.... :P but everything abt the box is great. very well built.

If u want more customization, then do as dogstar suggested.. I would NOT recommend BCOM though.

TurboTony
Why do you say stay away from Bcom? Do they have a bad rep or something?

I talked to a guy at the one in sherwood park, seemed nice enough. There prices seem reasonably in line with everyone else from what I've seen too.

Just curious.

from what i've heard BCOM doesn't really have good service.. they don't really treat their customers with respect.. i haven't experienced this problem first hand but i've heard a few people say this.

as for a place to go there's not really ONE place that's good.. it's always good to shop around... i seem to find good deals at a-computers used to be OA.

Genki
their prices are ok.. but i dont trust their workmanship :P

everyone that i knwo that has computer from there has had problems. Our company bought like 8 comps from there... about 50% of them had issues.. major issues.

I get my stuff from abc computers aka power industry, look for Mark and tell him Wilson sent you...

if your going with putting your own cpu together or just for parts, go with bcom and/or tucson computers
