| Why is there so much hype over skylines? I'm not trying to be sarcastic but i'm seriously curious, I don't find them that much of an atractive car. Why do so many people go ga-ga over it? :dunno: |

What kind of potential, what kind of numbers do they produce out of the factory?
I'm more into the domestic scene so this is all new to me, just trying to appreciate and understand the import scene a bit more. |

haha yah well they pretty much are... i think the only reason there is so much hype is because they are now more readily avaliable and people in town have them for sale.... | Lots of people just want something diffrent and a JDM vehicle is perfect for them heck i wouldnt mind a JDM vehicle i like both domestic and imports :bthumbup: |

| gtr's run about 280 at about 11-12lbs of boost. Now the skyline is so wonderful cause with about $1500 you can push 18lbs of boost and have say close to 350 at the wheels. Now thats potential. Also stock blocks can handle an easy 800hp. You can make a gtst have close to 500hp with about $4000 in parts. It's all about the engine it's stronger then a fuckin tank. think about it, your getting a turbo tuner car for roughly 10-14g's for a gts-t your gonna go spend 8g's on a nice 240 with none of the potential power of a skyline. Thats why they are so amazing. Also you have to remember everyone who knows about skylines have been wanting them for YEARS, now they can actually get them. I know i wanted one, and if i didn't fall in love with an fd i'd probly buy a gtst type m cause i want rwd but the potential is still ridiculous |

Veilside Skyline which it is powered by HKS Turbos, a six speed transimision that gives about 980bhp. It does the quarter mile in about 10.1 sec.
Trust have the RX-SROC that churns out 1006 bhp!!!

| Yup silverstone is gonna be pushing about 600hp my gf when she's done will push probably 400. It all takes time though, sumaru is gonna get about 6-7 out of his also. |

Because it was in 2 fast 2 furious is honestly why most people even know what a skyline is. Honestly personally I like the look of them and I have read a lil bit about them and know they are supposed to be good performers. As for if I seen one I am like nice nice. But I won't say anything to anyone cause it's not like I haven't seen one a couple times over by now. It's not that big of a deal. As for the kids who see one and look god damn yo it's a skyline. That is probably all they know is that it's a "Skyline" Don't know anything else. Probably don't even know it's made by Nissan. Don't take me wrong I don't know a hell of a lot about them either but I am saying that it's because of being in a movie more kids know about it and think it's the best car in the world. Personally unless I had extra money to spend I would not buy one. Yes I like the styling and such but not enough to spend that kind of money on a vehicle that old. As for the people on here who everytime the word comes up Skyline they are like what's the big deal they are gay. I think you guys should just keep that comment to yourselves when the thread has nothing to do with if they are gay or not. Like over in post about the wrecked one some people said skylines are dumb bla bla bla. I have seen threads on here about other cars being recked here if they look to be done up. Not just skylines....

Yeah...unfortunately that's the general idea about Skylines but that's not entirely true, I knew about the Skyline way before that stupid movie that I shall never say the name ever again in my life or my after life...but yeah, the potential is all there, my thoughts on the Skyline is just Nissan's answer to Toyota's Supra. |

my love of teh skyline started when i first got gran tourismo 1.....way before fast and furious 1 and 2....
the real output some say is around 320 horses not the 276 or so they say its at....and for the people who really understand and respect the skyline for what it is...basicaly a japanese street legal race car with an allmost indestructible bottem end up to around 600 hp, 4wd that acts like a rwd untill the manical computers detect slip of the front wheels, l-6 twin turbo 2.6 liter monster of an engine.....then the hype is really founded
without the skyline there would be no jgtc. it was made after the skyline dominated all 29 i think or so races of the group A race class it was in that they decided to start a new race called the jgtc so other cars would at least have a chance....
the only thing i really dislike about them coming to canada is that im betting there are more jdm skylines then jdm silvia's or 180sx's or anyother jdm car combined.....its starting to get more popular and i think that kinda sucks...its a race car...it should be raced not driven at slow speed on city streets.... my $0.02 |

Well AWD usually helps to quash the dyno queen thoughts. Even if they aren't launching the crap out of it the car is going to hook up a whole lot sooner than 2wd. |

I beleive you are correct.
R32's used mechanical differentials, it wasn't until the R33 version that they went with the electronically controlled clutchpack that sent power to the front wheels.
And I thought all R32's were RWD?. |

nope there was also the gt4 basicaly a gts-t with 4wd and then the skyline gtr which is more of a rwd untill you getplayfull and make it slide...all though since its not full time 4wd and is computer controlled you can drift it...plu if you wan to use the 4wd system still all you need is a torque balance controller hks amkes them and so do other companies:bthumbup: |

This is 100% correct, in the R32 GTR all you need to do is pull the 4WD fuse which disables the ATESSA system :p |
