| What octane are you running, with what power, out of what vehicle? Last question, have you experienced detonation as a cause of low octane fuel? |

| 89, merkur xr4ti.. 200hp i think? and i notice a slight difference from regular to mid to premium but shit yo that thing better bag on 89 octane. It's the car i do all my off roading in.And the rx7 never saw anything but premium |

Esso regular in the Jeep.
Whatever propane is cheapest in the truck. Fastgas is 48.4 now.
Esso Supreme in the TC.
Whatever the octane rating is on those. I couldn't tell you.
190hp/240tq at stock. Don't know what it is now. And that's 10-15PSI (15psi 1&2nd gear, 10psi 3-5th on premium fuel setting). |

| ChromeDragon |
| I am currently running 89 in my car at 10psi of boost without any detonation. At higher boost the car will detonate with the 89 octane though. With Husky 94 I haven't noticed any detonation at 15psi. |

Depends on the day/gas station, I try to run 91-92 as thats whats recommended, I run 87 if I can't find a good price on premium.
The car's pushing 150-157 Hp @ the crank. |

| 91 octane...150hp/159ftlbs to the crank...stock car...it needs it beucase if u use 89 or or even 86 especially the engine will start to knock and maybe will never go away!!!sucks that i have to use 91 but its all good |

87 oct
A bit over 400RWHP
Next rebuild I'm going 11-12:1, at which point I'll switch to 91. |
|
|
| JustinL |
Last year I dyno'd at 272RWHP on 92 octane mohawk gas and 16 psi. This year I'm going to up it to 18psi with mohawk 94.
This is in the 944 turbo S. I've never had audible detonation. |

| 87 octane in my streetported rx7 |

| SilverZ24 |
| 91 octane (usually Esso or Shell) on my Cavalier. It is supercharged and dyno'd at 201hp and 187lbs of torque. :) |

| 91 octane from Esso, it says at least 89 behind the gas cover, just stock engine so factory number is 172hp. |

94 if I'm in the city, if I'm stuck up north, then I run 91 which is the best I can get.
I'm pushing around 270 to the ground, but I'll find out for sure tomorrow when I dyno
edit: 264 hp and 299lbs/tq TO THE GROUND:bthumbup: |

| 91 ... tuned fatter than rita macniel right now .. 310/340 or something around there on a MD 250 ... probably 330/360 on a dynojeti am guessing |
|
|
| Mekanik22 |
| There's quite the few people using 91 octane. And there is 94 octane and such at other gas stations?! Damn, I need to get out more because I only thought it went to 91 octane at the pumps, lol. |

| huskey 94 oct with 285crankhp/300tq before it blew a piston. |

BS ... its all in your head ... there is no reason to run higher octane if your car doesnt require it .. there is no more 'power' in higher octane gas ... |

did he say anything about power, he said milage. Milage can easily be quantified, for example, I got on average 450km/tank, then i took off the intake silencer, then I averaged 500km/tank, then I put the sub box in and I was back down to 450km/tank, then I put the front bumper on, then I was down to 400km/tank, then I put a CAI on, now I'm upto 475km/tank. How would that be all in my head so to speak, I reset the trip every fill up and I watch it as i drive and look at what it is before I reset it.
You are right though if your car doesn't require the higher octane you can actually loose power. But there are some cars that are ment to run on 87, but if you stick 89 or 91 the ECU will advance the timing abit and use a little bit more of the potental the higher octane gives. I know my car if I run 89 or 87 the ecu pulls timing to accomadate. |

i use petro premium. car likes it. no knock sensor means it will detonate easily in 4th and 5th on a hot day, with the premium it doesn't, after i go turbo i will definetly have to use premium.
glad i have the 8.8:1 instead of 9:1 or 9.2:1 compression motor
recently dynoed at 124hp and 172 tq at wheels. |

Hi Cody,
I usually use Esso Supreme, 91 Octane or the Safeway Supreme 91 Octane. From the factory I run 232 HP, but I have added a bunch of go fast mods, so I can only speculate on current HP untill I take her in for a Dyno.
As for the detonation, yes, only once. When I first bought the car the salesman gave me a free tank of gas, I drove the car with him to the Hughes as that is where they had their gas vouchers for . I was busy drooling over my car and still wrapped up in the moment that I did not notice him filling it with reg 87 Octane. I was pretty choked . When I was driving the car, I had to drive it like I was on eggshells as it would detonate when I hit boost. Needless to say that car did ALOT of idiling on that tank, and when the car was parket, I left the fuel door open to let the gas evaporate.
I have not had the pleasure to try 94 Octane yet, but one day I will.

i wouldn't worry about it, nothing worng with owing a neon that puts down the kind of numbers an SRT 4 does |

| I have a friend who drive a red 02 R/T and She runs 87 octane(manual says 91+) and now her cat is broken. She gets an error code saying her cat's efficiancy is reduced. |

C16 can be bought through any VP Fuels reseller - there are many in the city:
Specialty Sleds
Boucher Motorsports
Xtreme Machine
And many, many more.
I think Bud Park typically sells VP fuel on race day, but I can't say forsure since I never run it. |

Pricing should be fairly similar among most places selling VP - the markup isn't too high.
You'll get a better price if you bought say a drum of it with a couple other people. |

| It was $16 a gallon for me, and yes they do sell it at Bud Park on race days, or at least they were a couple weeks ago when I went for Street Legal. |
