pink civic update - Click HERE for Original Thread

Mizz_T
well it is now may 12th summer is pretty much here...
just wanted to keep some people updated as i promised.
today my car finally goes into the paint both!
after lots of tears and stress my insurance has canceled me and my paint is unmatchable so a new paint job is in order. ( out of my pocket again) paint job number 3!!!
still along way from being done, can't wait to drive it again :(

Well if i can say anything about all this, is that i've learned a few things that i would like to share so hopefully i can help prevent someone else from learning the hard way:

Custom car: Appraisal!!!! Proper insurance!!!

I know some of you think i was trying to scam my insursance... boy are you wrong! So pieces of the story your getting are a bit wrong. Here is the whole thing:

I came home from a show in red deer, it was late i had to go to work and was running late. didn't have time to unload my car, drove it into the garage locked it up armed it locked up the (detached) garage. Returned the next morning from work to find my dad blocking the door to the garage saying don't go in there. i have never felt so sad and violated in my life. i just sat there and cried. the investigator that came said they were trying to steal my car but because i was in such a rush that day i left my powerinvertor to my PS2 on and it had killed my battery. Being the reason they could not get it started. so my stupidity kind of paid off.

as for the crow bar... they didn't beat the car with it! They used it to pry open the hood to disconect the battery. leaving dent marks!

I hear alot of "why would they try to steal a pink car?" who knows i guess the question will always remain.

CJDP
I know how it feels my insurance got cancelled to cause my car was high risk. I also got everything appraised tho, and even though i will be paying out of my ass for insurance. I would rather have that then worry if my car is getting stolen, cause then i get insurance money:P

Did you have the del sol? with the LV interior?

Mizz_T
Civic Si Coupe Pink w/ LV interior

CJDP

hey mizz t, thanks for giving the good advice... hopefully you will help someone avoid the problems in dealing with insurance and modified cars.

Maybe you could give more details, but i think the point is:

make sure your ins. co. knows what they're insuring if you want to be able to be compensated for it.

Mizz_T
I found an insurance company called Baker Insurance here in calgary. they have an insurance plan called vintage insurance. Car has to be pretty modified and they have rules you must follow.. max 5000 kms a year, can not use to drive to and from work ect... but it covers all mods and is ALOT cheaper then normal insurance

redbaron303
MizzT, I'm very sorry to hear about the hassels with your insurance company! I wish that would have worked out better for you!

I'm glad you're not letting this fiasco stop your enthusiasm though and look forward to seeing your "new" ride! Goodluck with everything!

Question though about the insurance --- this vintage policy --- that leads me to believe it's for old cars, but they'll still insure your ride under that policy????

I'm glad to hear that you still have the car and that you are working on getting it to the point that it was before all of this BS. I really thought after I heard about your incident that you would have thrown in the towel. I'm glad I was wrong.

Looking forward to seeing the new look and hope to run into you at a few shows this year.

I too am very interested in getting an apparaisal done and getting special insurance for my car... Can you provide some more information on this, where you got the appraisal done, how much, etc...

ChromeDragon
Good to hear that the car is getting back together Trish. I was looking into collector's insurance back when I was ~21 and they outright told me that I couldn't get it until I was 25, and even then it was iffy. Good to hear that you got under a plan like that.

Mizz_T

Xx D-MAN xX
$800 is cheap...

Trish, did they do an appraisal or do you have to get one done elsewhere?

I just want to make sure that I'm covered, not just of the value of the car, but with all the modifcations that have been done as well...

SunkistShark
Hey Trish,

Are you planning anything new or different with the civ that we can look forward to? or are you just getting it back to what u had it at.
