Rim choices - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ok, I really want to upgrade my rims on my car and I finally have the means of getting them. What im looking for is between a 5 and 7 spoke 17" rim that supports either a 5 x 114.3 or 5 x 115. They also have to be quite light ( for a 17" rim, I want no more than 18 lbs per rim ) and im also not going to pay an arm and a leg for them ( ie, retail price less than 1000$ for the 4 ). I work at a shop where I can get great discounts but I need to find a rim that I like first. Also, an opinions on some rubber woudl be great as well, again, looking at a good performance or high-performance tire that will run no more than lets say 200$ per tire and would preferably be able to pick up at kal tire ( I have a 50% warranty from my last ones ). Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been sitting ehre trying to invision what I would look nice on a grand am, but I can't think of any setup I like. I think 5 spoke would be nicer than 7 though.

Common, they dont look too bad at all. I know a buddy that has a nice set of 18's on his GA, but they weigh a ton and it slows him down big time. As for places, I dont need any, I can order anything from my work for a great price I just need ideas. After some searching, ive come up with what looks like either enkei or konig rims, but I have no idea the price on either or the weight on the enkei's. Thx for the input anyways, just keep it up.

That got to be one of the most ignorant things I have heard today...

18 inch Enkei RS6'

19X8 Motegi Racing DPK's

18 inch sancro wheeler

18" Motegi MR7's

All of these look pretty decent

Regards

Thx park. I really love the enkei's and montegi's, they seem to be the style I want the most. I just wish I could find out the weight on them. They are both 5 x 114.3, which, while not perfect, will do. I also like the second pic, it looks as though he's got the new rksport front fascia and the first one did the eclipse headlight conversion. OH crap, just found out the weight on the mr7's, 24.5 lbs, ouch. cross those off the list then.

why don't you just go to a kaltire, they have a little computer setup somewhere in the store, and look through all the rims that they carry. Once you find about 4 or 5 rims you like, talk to the guy at the front counter, and he'll be able to get the weight of the rims for you.

Or I could recommend centerline storms 15lbs/rim. They cost me $204 each. I also went with Falken Azenis 215, $183/tire. Dropped a full tenth off of my 60' and I gained 3/4 mph. If you want a pic, I can post a pic of the rims on my car.

i think i just threw up in my mouth

Yea, ive been to kal tire and there are some nice CR Hype-CR530's, though the guy couldnt tell me the weight. THey are quite light though. And thx for the tire choice, ive been kinda lost as what to look for in tires. The only ones ive seen that look good to me are G-force sport tires. If you can, post a pic of your rims.

here's some quick pics I took.

The guys at kaltire should still be able to get you the weight of the rims. All they have to do is call their supplier for that rim, and the supplier or manufacturer should be able to tell them either the weight of the rim itself, or at the least how much the rim weighs when shipped, then you just subtract a pound or so from the shipping weight.

Those are quite nice. I think im going to go with a kazera KZ-S from Tirerack. I completely forgot about that site. They weigh in at around 18 lbs and as for tires, ive been reading a whole whack of suggestions fro a GA. I guess Continental ContiExtreme Contact tires are pretty good as well as the old classic Dunlop Sport A2's same with the Yokohama AVS dB S2's.

None of those pictures appeal to me at all. the red car looks like a car that is trying to be something it never will.. It need to be lowered then it might look ok if it was not for the huge body gaps.

Soulfly
Get Motegi RT-5's In chrome.. or polished..

They are sweet rims.. I was GOING to get them.. Untill I found the ones I was Originaly looking for! lol.. the FF-6's..

which red car are you referring to? If it's mine, I should be lowering it early next month.

Damn, your lucky Soulfly, the FF-6 is a damn nice rim and definatly would be one of my choices if only I had the weight. I spent like 3 hours yesterday looking up all kinds of rims and rubber for my car.
