does anyone have one...or even know what i'am talking about?...saw one on tv a long time ago and it was bullet proof and you couldn't cut it so the divice didn't let the clutch go down to start the car or the brakes or some shit like that...but does anyone have one?
The UnBRAKEable AutoLock™
"Pro puts the brakes on auto theft by locking one of the strongest parts of your car - the solid steel brake pedal. Your car's solid steel brake pedal works together with the solid steel of the unBRAKEable AutoLock™ to make it virtually impossible for thieves to steal your car.
In fact, the Lawman Armor Corporation is so convinced that the AutoLock™ is the best theft deterrent. And that they will reimburse your theft deductible (up to $1,000), if your car is stolen with the AutoLock™ properly installed.
They will also pay $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone caught tampering with your vehicle, and the AutoLock might also make you eligible for a discount on your theft (comprehensive) insurance (For more details, please check with your company).
The UnBRAKEable AutoLock Pro comes with a highly visible yellow steering wheel cover, 2 window decals to ward off potential thieves and 3 high security barrel keys that are virtually impossible to duplicate.
Specifications:
Shipping Dimensions 24" X 8" X 5"
Weight Lbs. 5 Lbs.
Weight Kgs. 2.3 Kgs
FAQs
How do I install the UnBRAKEable AutoLock ?
Installing the UnBrakeable AutoLock is easy: simply slide it over the top of the brake or clutch pedal, pull the handle up and the AutoLock™ locks automatically. Then slip the Steering Wheel Cover on for added visibility and protection.
How does it work?
Once you have the UnBrakeable AutoLock Pro properly installed, the brake or clutch pedal cannot be depressed. Because most cars and trucks must have either the brake or clutch depressed before being put in gear, the AutoLock makes the car undriveable"
I think i may pick one up :dunno:

I remember seeing the info-mercial for that... My dad's truck it wouldn't do squat.. well sorta not really, cause his truck is ATX and you can start it and put it in gear without touching the brake, so if you creativly used the e-brake you could still get away.

I've got one for my Neon. I bought it at Canadian Tire. It was something like $70. It works great. It hooks over the arm of the brake pedal or clutch. You then push it down to the floor, and then pull up on the handle, and it locks in place with the arm right up under the brake pedal. It completely surrounds the pedal arm so you can't slide it sideways and remove it. It doesn't use a standard key, so you can't jimmy the lock.
Cars with standards nowadays can't be started unless you depress the clutch, so there's no way to start it, even if you bypass the ignition switch. |

I've seen the infomercial myself, and even without the "carjackers", it still makes a lot of sense. Steering wheels are made to deform in an accident, so the manufacturers don't put metal in the rim. So, it's easy for a car thief with a hacksaw to cut through it in 10 seconds, slip the "club" off, and be gone.
But in an accident situation, fueled by full-blown panic adrenaline, you stomp down on that brake pedal with a force that's absolutely off the scale. So the brake pedal is made of incredibly strong metal. The brake pedal, under no circumstances, can be allowed to break (obviously, because then you have no way to stop the car).
So, you can't cut through the brake pedal. Make the lock strong, too, and you'll never get the two things apart. And this brake pedal club is probably about 5 pounds of solid thick steel. You couldn't cut through this thing in less than 15 minutes.
I remember some guy once told me that the brake lock was no good, that he could steal a car really quickly if it had that on it. I told him to come over and show me how he could do it. He never showed up. I'm a very skeptical person by nature, but I don't see how you could defeat this thing without a lot of power tools and a lot of time. If someone can prove me wrong, I'm open to watch them do it. |

| A prepared theif could do it.... heh give me a gas powered diamond saw and it'll be done in 30sec.. heh but noise would be an issue. |

Oh yeah, of course there's no way to ABSOLUTELY stop a thief. If they really really really want your car, they're going to have it.
But I don't think a thief is going to go to the trouble, expense and extra weight of carrying all the extra equipment needed to steal my car. It's a stock Neon, so an experienced thief knows it's not worth anything, and your average neighbourhood joyriding teenager won't have the equipment to defeat it. |

Consider the following.....
You're walking down your average city street. A tow truck backs up to a vehicle and tows it away. Sure, the alarm is going off like a bat out of hell. Would you think twice about it?
Probably not.
Welcome to the world of educated thieves with money to do it right...in front of YOU.
Club like devices work against the amateurs. The gone in 60 seconds crowd would just laugh.
If they really want it, they will get it. |

| If you REALLY want to keep your car, then get one of those GPS receivers mounted in the frame. Then, if your car is stolen, they can track it's exact location to get it back. |
