Should take between 12-14 hours depending on your speed and rest breaks. Heres my routine:
-Leave at 5:00am on Hwy16 West
-Stop at Edson for cheap gas and to have some breakfest.
-Follow Hwy16 to Hwy5
-Pack a lunch and eat at any of the beautiful rest areas on Hwy 5 near Valemont
-Follow Hwy 5 to Kamloops
-Just past Kamloops is the toll booth for the Couquihalla Hwy
-$10 toll per car, cash is the fastest but they do take CC
-Contiue on the Merritt, Hope, Abottsford and into Vancouver
-It shoud be about 6:00pm by the time you get to Vancouver. Rather than fight rush hour, stop and have dinner. Unless you get seasick, then it best not to eat.
-If your not familiar with Vancouver, it best to pick up a map. One wrong turn and you could end up and Washington.
-Follow the signs to Port Tsawwassen. The last boat to Swartz Bay is at 9:00pm, Best to be there by 8:30pm.
-BCFerries Prices
-When you get to Swartz Bay, it just a short drive though Sydney in to Victoria.
-Your there!
Coming Back:
Becaues the first ferry is at 6:00am, You can't get the early head start, so I break the return trip up in to two days. It get to Vancouver for some shopping and dinner, then drive to Kamloops. Stop there over night, then take the second day to make it back to Edmonton.
If your not in a rush, you can do in to 2-3 days though Vancouver-Kelowna-Banff-Hwy 11 route. Its one of the most beautiful drives I've ever done. One of the few places where you will enjoy getting such behind a camper doing 80km/h because the senery in awesome.
Good luck and have fun.:blue: |

I done it in about 15 hours (with ferry) 11:30 to Van. go to Jasper for the love of good don't take the banff way no matter what, it adds at least 1 hour to your trip.
Be prepared to go 90 in BC, one lane each way.
Take the toll too! well worth the 10 bucks. |

the Ferry to Victoria will butt-rape you. $30 for you and your car, and $10 for each passanger (each way). But a little tip... Get a passanger to ride in the trunk... Just ask REDx2nv... it works, and you'll save yourself money. (depending on how many people you can stuff in the trunk)
I think i hold the record for longest victoria to edmonton returning drive... 23 hours. but that includes the ferry, getting lost in van city looking for the weed store... stoping at the store that sells weed... buying weed in a store... and then after sampling my latest purchase the drive home was killer.
the 23 hours also included a few naps, and stops for food. |
